PSL Team of the Season - Best XI of the 2025-26 Season
Goalkeeper: Brandon Petersen (Kaizer Chiefs)
Whilst other goalkeepers have kept more clean sheets, Petersen has been Chiefs' best player in a third-place finish. He has excelled on the shot-stopping side of the game. He made 47 saves at 78% save success rate.
Right Back: Thabang Matuludi (Polokwane City)
Whilst both Khuliso Mudau and Kamogelo Sebelebele were excellent, Matuludi was unrivalled. He captained his club and provided goal threat from open play and set pieces. With seven big chances created and 62% aerial success rate, he should be named in South Africa's World Cup squad.
Centre Back: Lebone Seema (Orlando Pirates)
A shock signing from TS Galaxy with only a dozen PSL starts to his name. He was thrust into the XI and brought speed, long-range passing ability and some key goals scored. Pirates kept 20 clean sheets between round three and round 29 because of his strong form.
Centre Back: Khulumani Ndamane (TS Galaxy/Mamelodi Sundowns)
Whilst he had a league-high 10 yellow cards, Ndamane was outstanding for TS Galaxy and very good after his move to Mamelodi Sundowns. The Rockets collapsed after his sale in January and that just shows what a big influence he was having.
Left Back: Deon Hotto (Orlando Pirates)
With eight assists and 46 chances created, this was a no-brainer. No other fullback performed as consistently well as him across the entire season.
Central Midfield: Thalente Mbatha (Orlando Pirates)
Although he did not score a league goal, Mbatha became much stronger defensively and with his passing. He created 19 chances and won 83 duels from the Pirates double pivot.
Central Midfield: Lebohang Maboe (Kaizer Chiefs)
After coming into the XI after injury, Maboe added a new dimension to Chiefs. He won numerous man of the match awards, broke up play and passed accurately. He was brilliant in a deeper role and proved a great signing from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Right Winger: Siyanda Ndlovu (Golden Arrows)
The speedy wide man had a brilliant season, even if things did peter out a bit towards the end. He had the most chances created in the first part of the season and his form is sure to have attrached the big clubs to make a move in the off-season.
Number ten: Rele Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates)
With 10 league goals and eight assists, he was incredible after the AFCON break. He scored a fine hattrick vs TS Galaxy and looked unplayable at times. He is the favourite to win the PSL Player of the Season award. He created 88 chances in the PSL in the first 29 matches, way more than anyone else.
Left Winger: Oswin Appollis (Orlando Pirates)
An outstanding signing from Polokwane City, he was excellent throughout the whole season. With 15 goal contributions, he linked superbly with teammates and scored some long-range gems too.
Striker: Sede Dion (Golden Arrows)
The well-travelled striker netted 14 goals in the first 29 rounds of action. With just one penalty scored, he was deadly with his finishing and looks set to take home the Golden Boot. Bigger clubs have been linked with a move in the off-season.
