Richards Bay vs AmaZulu Predictions - Rich Boyz and Usuthu to Share the Spoils

The much-anticipated KZN Derby between Richards Bay and AmaZulu is set to be a close affair, with analysts predicting a draw. Richards Bay has been inconsistent, drawing recent matches and standing 10th in the PSL table. Meanwhile, AmaZulu, strong at home, are ranked fifth but struggle away, drawing three of their last five away matches. Both sides see key players return from injuries, adding depth to their line-ups. The recommendation is to back a 'Both Teams to Score (BTTS) Yes' in this potentially low-scoring encounter.

  • Match prediction leans towards a draw in the KZN Derby.
  • Richards Bay's recent form shows a series of draws, placed 10th in PSL.
  • AmaZulu, ranked 5th, depend heavily on home games, less success away.

Richards Bay vs AmaZulu Predictions

Richards Bay are backed to take a point from this match. AmaZulu are over-reliant on their home form. I’m backing a draw in this KZN Derby.

Head to Head

These sides sit at 2-2 across six previous clashes with two draws.

AmaZulu won 1-0 at home when the clubs last met in April 2025.

Richards Bay Form & Team News

Richards Bay have taken just three points from their last five matches (LLDDD). They sit 10th in the PSL table with a four-point buffer to the relegation zone.

A 3-1 win vs Durban City in the Carling Knockout Cup saw 25 shots attempted. They drew 1-1 at Polokwane City and 1-1 at Sekhukhune United for two valuable one-point hauls.

A 1-0 home loss to Orlando Pirates in the Cup saw them outshot 16-4. Their last match saw a 0-0 home draw vs Durban City as the sides nullified each other.

Richards Bay have both Moses Mthembu and Tlukasani Mthethwa back from injury to start in midfield.

Defender Simphiwe Mcineka is an injury doubt. Gabadinho Mhango could be recalled up front alongside Knox Mutizwa.

Richards Bay Predicted Lineup

Otieno; Mabuya, Zulu, Mabua, Khumalo; Mthembu, Mthethwa; Mutizwa, Ngema, Ndelu; Mhango.

AmaZulu Form & Team News

AmaZulu sit fifth in the PSL table with six wins in 12 matches. They’ve taken just six points from six away fixtures.

Usuthu lost 3-2 at home to Magesi in the Carling Knockout Cup before scoring late to beat Durban City 1-0 at home. A 3-0 win at Chippa United was followed by a surprise 1-0 home loss to Polokwane City.

They bounced back to beat Siwelele 2-0 at home. AmaZulu had just 39% possession and were outshot 14-7 in a curious performance on home turf.

Coach Arthur Zwane has top scorer Thando Ngwenya available after injury. Liam Bern is set to start in midfield once again after being cleared to play.

Veteran midfielder Bongani Zungu is a doubt. Keagan Allan should shake off an injury to start in the back three.

AmaZulu Predicted Lineup

Johnson; Allan, Mthethwa, Hanamub; Radebe, Hlangabeza, Bern, Ekstein, Ngcobo; Maqokola, Ngwenya.
