Real Madrid can keep the pressure on Barcelona when they entertain Valencia at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano on Thursday night. Real Madrid have a wonderful home record against Valencia, with goals the order of the day when these sides meet.

Valencia managed just one win in four games before the coronavirus-enforced break. They were defeated 3-0 at Real Sociedad, but then downed Real Betis 2-1 at home.  

Those results were followed by a 1-1 draw away to Deportivo Alaves, before thrilling 4-3 home loss to Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.

Valencia returned to action with a 1-1 draw with Levante at home. Rodrigo thought he had won the match for Valencia with his goal in the 89th minute, but Levante rescued a point with a late penalty.

Centre-backs Ezequiel Garay and Eliaquim Mangala are both injured for Valencia.

Real Madrid lead the head-to-head 87-45 against Valencia, with 37 draws in 169 matches.

Their last encounter took place on 8 January 2020 in the Spanish Super Cup. Real Madrid ran out 3-1 victors.
