It’s moving day in the Champions League, with the last set of round robin matches playing out on Wednesday night as teams fight for knockout places to keep their title hopes alive.

Atletico Madrid vs Bodo/Glimt

Atletico are fighting for a top eight spot while Bodo/Glimt need a win to give them a chance of slipping into the top 24 knockout places. Bodo will be buoyed by their 3-1 home win against Man City, and they’ve won four and drawn one of their last five matches.

Atletico have home ground advantage and have won three and drawn one of their last five matches. Bodo have a good record on the road, but Atletico have lost just one and drawn one of their last 21 home matches… 19 wins from 21 at home sounds too much to ask of Bodo, despite having beaten City. Bodo have scored in their last 19 away games, so an Atletico win with both sides to score looks a solid bet.

Barcelona vs FC Copenhagen

Barca are on the edge of a top eight spot and Copenhagen are on the cusp of the top 24, so this will be a brutal clash. Copenhagen’s form is pretty good, but form in the Danish league is no indicator against a Barca side that has won 16 of their last 20 matches.

On the road Copenhagen have lost five and drawn two of their last 10 matches. Barca have won their last 11 home matches, and won 15 of their last 16. With a top eight spot at stake, I don’t see any chance of Barca letting a win over their Danish visitors going a-begging, and I’m backing a win to nil at the Camp Nou.

PSG vs Newcastle

PSG and Newcastle are two of the eight teams on 13 points, with five of them below the elusive eighth spot, so all will be going flat out for the top eight spot. The two teams have both won four, drawn one and lost two of their seven matches, with PSG one point above Newcastle by virtue of a 20:10 goal spread for PSG compared to Newcastle’s 16:6.

Both sides have a good spread of wins in their last 10 matches, but it’s away form that swings it for me. PSG have won eight and lost two of their last 10 home games, while Newcastle have won just two of their last 10 matches on the road, losing six. This has to be a home win for PSG, but I’m backing a bit of a goal rush the to sides slug it out for a top eight spot.

Napoli vs Chelsea

Chelsea are in eighth spot but are certain to miss a top eight finish unless they get at least one point. Napoli are in 25th spot but with their weak goal difference they have to win to have a hope of cracking the knockouts.

Napoli have just one win in their last five, while Chelsea have won four of their last five. On the road Chelsea have just four wins from their last 10, while Napoli haven’t lost at home in 20 matches, winning 15 of them. Napoli have the desire for the win, but Chelsea are a quality side, so it’s stacking up like a draw in my book.

PSG to wreck Newcastle’s top eight hopes, while Napoli and Chelsea to draw a match both desperately need to win.
