Congo vs Cameroon

Cameroon come into this clash on the back of a 3-1 win over the Comoros and should be far too strong for a Congo side without a win in nine matches. Congo have lost four of the last five matches and have netted just twice, while Cameroon have four wins in six with nine goals.

Congo have only four goals in those nine winless matches, so the strong Cameroonians should take this without their keeper being troubled.

Gabon vs Niger

Gabon went five defeats on the bounce before a win on penalties against Trinidad & Tobago after finishing at 2-2 at the end of the 90 minutes. They had scored 14 goals in eight matches up to that match, so they have goals in them, but they went on to lose 2-0 to Morocco in their AFCON opener.

Niger were winless for six matches before beating Lesotho 2-1 three days ago in their opening AFCON clash. They’ve averaged a goal a game over their last 10 with just three goalless performances.

Gabon are the heavy favourites for the win, but considering both their attacking performances this looks like a both teams to score wager.

Liberia vs Mali

Liberia took a 3-1 defeat from Rwanda in their AFCON opener on the back of a 3-1 win over Sierra Leone. They had lost three and drawn one of their previous four matches, going goalless three times.

Mali handed World Cup wonderkids the Cape Verde a 3-1 defeat in their AFCON opener to sound the alarm that the West African side is a strong contender to go the distance in AFCON.

They were goalless in their previous three matches and scored just three goals in eight matches ahead of their win over Cape Verde, but they look to have found their winning ways. Liberia appear to have goals in them so this is shaping up like a win for Mali with both sides to score.

Somalia vs Ivory Coast

Somalia are ranked 199 by FIFA and have failed to score in seven of their last 10 matches, losing six times and scoring just four goals. They lost 2-1 to Gambia in their AFCON opener, but ahead of their first meeting with 31st-ranked Ivory Coast they look set to take a pounding.

Ivory Coast are a powerful unit and have won seven of their last nine matches, their only two defeats coming against the in-form Norway and Germany in the recent World Cup, both by 2-1 margins. They have kept a clean sheet in six of their last nine matches and the odds of a clean sheet are at 1.40.

Ivory Coast have just 16 goals in nine matches and with Somalia only conceding 12 goals in 10 games I see this as a low-scoring win for the Elephants.
