Georgia vs Ukraine

Georgia have lost four of their last nine matches, picking up just two wins, conceding 16 goals in those matches. Georgia’s record against strong nations is poor, so I’m backing 33rd-ranked Ukraine to take them down.

Ukraine haven’t lost to Georgia in their last five meetings, picking up three wins. They’ve earned six wins in nine and have four clean sheets in their last six matches. I’d be interested in a win to nil based on Ukraine’s defence, but the safer bet is a straight win for Ukraine which still offers a decent payout.

Armenia vs Montenegro

Armenia have just two wins in their last 10 home matches while failing to score in five of those matches. With just seven goals in their last 10 matches I’m keen to go for the bigger payout by backing a win to nil for Montenegro.

Montenegro have five wins and a draw in their last eight matches and have notched 15 goals in their last eight matches. They have two clean sheets in their last five matches and have conceded just 11 goals in eight matches, so I definitely fancy them for the win as well as keeping a clean sheet.

Belgium vs France

There’s a nice payout for a France win with both teams to score. Having said that, Belgium are unbeaten in their last nine matches at home, picking up six wins and netting 29 goals, albeit with plenty coming from low-ranked sides. They’ve also scored in all but one of their last matches.

France have lost just three of their last 15 matches, with two of those defeats coming against the powerful Spain and England sides in the World Cup. They have scored 37 times in their last 15 matches and have a potent attacking force and powerful midfield. This game has goals written all over it, but also a France win, as they are a powerful unit.

France have won their last five matches against Belgium, so although their opponents Belgium are highly ranked by FIFA (8th) they lack the finishing touch to defeat France.

Northern Ireland vs Hungary

Northern Ireland have struggled over the last year, losing five of their last 10 matches, although they have conceded just 11 goals in that stretch, but they have only scored eight goals.

Hungary have soaked up just three defeats in 10 matches, picking up five victories with 15 goals scored and 10 conceded. Northern Ireland have good form at home and Hungary are good on the road, with both scoring in most of their matches. Hard to pick a winner between the two sides (or a draw), but a bet on both teams to score sounds solid.

I’m backing wins for Ukraine, Montenegro and France, while I’m hedging my bets by backing Northern Ireland and Hungary to both score.
