The CSA One-Day Cup is the premier domestic one-day cricket tournament in South Africa, showcasing the best in local talent who compete annually in thrilling matches to decide which team is the best in the land.
The one-day competition began in the 1981/82 season, with the first match being played on the 24th of February 1982 in Pietermaritzburg between Natal(Dolphins) and Northern Transvaal(Titans).
The name of the tournament has changed over the years from the Benson&Hedges Series (1981–1996), Standard Bank League (1997–1999), Standard Bank Cup(2000-2006), MTN Domestic Championship(2007-2009), MTN40(2010-2011), Franchise One-Day Cup(2012), Momentum One-Day Cup(2013-2021), and CSA One-Day Cup(2022-present).
The 1994/95 season saw 11 teams compete for the cup, with Namibia joining the fray for the 2002/03 season.
In the 2004/05 season, only six franchise teams contested the one-day cup, with each side playing each other home and away in a round-robin format. Zimbabwe joined for the 2007/08 season, briefly expanding the number of teams to seven.
After the round-robin stage, the top four teams clash in the semi-finals to decide the final of the CSA One-Day Cup.
In 2020, the competition was restructured in favour of 15 provincial teams playing in two divisions, with the premier teams competing in Division One for the CSA One-Day Cup.
In March 2022, the Titans scored 453/3 from their 50 overs against the North-West Dragons, setting a new record for the highest total in a List A match in South Africa.
