Bangladesh vs Pakistan 2nd ODI Predictions - Sahibzada Farhan to guide Pakistan to level the series after 1st ODI blowout

Editor
Last updated: 8 minutes ago

Bangladesh started their series against Pakistan with a commanding 8-wicket win in the first ODI, showcasing a strong performance both in bowling and batting. Nahid Rana's impressive figures of 5/24 dismantled the Pakistan lineup, while Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto successfully chased down the target in just 15.1 overs. Pakistan's debutants showed promise, but the team aims to turn the series around in the upcoming 2nd ODI. Cricket fans are keen to see if Pakistan can recover and level the series.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan Predictions

Pakistan fielded four debutants after their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, but a fresh and fired-up Bangladesh rolled them with ease. Pakistan are sure to find their footing for the 2nd ODI and I’m backing them to level the series.

  • Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan hit five sixes in his 60-ball 100 against Sri Lanka.
  • Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan has scored 50+ in 23 of his 92 ODI innings.
  • Bangladesh’s Tanzid Hasan has scored 54, 92, 23 & 67* in his last 5 innings.
  • Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy has scored 33, 102 & 96 in his last 3 innings.

Head-to-Head

Pakistan have won three and lost one of their last five ODIs against Bangladesh. One match was rained-out.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh followed up their 2–1 ODI series win against the West Indies by kicking off their series against Pakistan with an 8-wicket win.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz followed up figures of 2/32 against East Zone by taking 3/29 as Pakistan folded for 114. The hero of the innings was Nahid Rana, who knocked over Pakistan’s top five to leave them reeling at 70/6. Rana’s last four matches have yielded figures of 2/33, 3/47, 2/61 and 5/24, so I’m backing him to take 2-plus wickets.

Tanzid Hasan (67*) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (27) knocked off the runs for the win off just 15.1 overs. Litton Das has been a star performer for Bangladesh. In his recall to the squad he scored just 3* before Bangladesh completed the win, but he has played himself into form with domestic innings of 39*, 65* 43 and 55* in his last 8 knocks.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan ended a 4-match winning streak by crashing to an 8-wicket defeat to Bangladesh in the 1st ODI of their 3-match ODI series.

Pakistan got off to a good start through debutants Sahibzada Farhan (27) and Maaz Sadaqat (18) who added 41 for the 1st wicket off 10 overs. Faheem Ashraf (37) was the only other batter to pass 10 as Pakistan were rolled for 114 off 30.4 overs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi (1/35) and Mohammad Wasim (1/24) were the only Pakistan bowlers to pick up a wicket as Bangladesh raced to an 8-wicket win.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan Team News

Bangladesh’s star in the 1st ODI was Nahid Rana, who routed the Pakistan top-order with figures of 5/24.

"I wasn't too surprised with the wicket. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed were telling me that I should just consistently hit a length on the wicket. I just tried to execute what they were telling me. Speaking to all of them makes me feel less pressure in the middle," said Rana in an interview with Cricinfo

"I was playing an ODI after a long time but my preparation was great after playing in the BCL tournament. I could just execute some of my plans from that tournament. I have also bowled a lot on this wicket so I know what lengths will get me help from the wicket. I tried to bring those previous experiences of playing in this stadium to the game today.

"We are a band of brothers. We are happy-go-lucky on and off the field, so it helps us relax when things get too serious. We boost each other, and we look out for each other. I try to learn from them constantly. When I can't execute something in the middle, they point it to me. They deliver a simple message, which helps me understand better," added Rana.

Pakistan’s white-ball coach Mike Hesson was disappointed with his side’s performance in the first innings of the match.

"It's a pretty disappointing batting performance. I don't think there's any shying away from that. It wasn't just the youngsters, we were exposed against some good bowling and we went into our shell a little bit, and we have to turn things around really quickly," said Hesson in the post-match press conference.

Bangladesh (possible XI): Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (c), Towhid Hridoy, Afif Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana.

Pakistan (possible XI): Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, Shamyl Hussain, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Agha, Hussain Talat, Abdul Samad, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi (c), Mohammad Wasim, Abrar Ahmed.

Verdict

I am backing Pakistan to win, with Sahibzada Farhan to top score for the visitors.
