Pakistan vs Australia Predictions


Australia haven’t played an ODI since October last year and they don’t look like a side that can challenge their hosts. Pakistan went down to Bangladesh 2-1 in their last ODI series but looked in great shape in the 1st ODI win over Australia. 

  • Pakistan’s Babar Azam scored 69 off 94 balls in the win over Australia.
  • Ghazi Ghori hit a 92-ball score of 65 in the 1st ODI
  • Pakistan’s Arafat Minhas took 5/32 in the 1st ODI.
  • Australia’s Matt Renshaw top-scored with 61 off 63 in the defeat to Pakistan.
  • Australia’s Matthew Short scored 55 off 76 balls against Pakistan.
  • Australia’s Nathan Ellis took 2/45 in the 1st ODI against Pakistan.

Pakistan have won three and lost two of their last five ODIs against Australia. Pakistan have won the last three ODIs against Australia on the bounce.

Pakistan Form


Arafat Minhas played a key role in the win, running through four of Australia’s top five in returning figures of 5/32 off his 10 overs. Abrar Ahmed offered good support with figures of 2/44.

Babar Azam has been in great form with the bat, scoring 59, 103, 68, 47 and 69 in his last five matches. Ghazi Ghori is also in good form with scores of 50, 28*, 29 and 65 in his last five knocks.

Sahibzada Farhan is worth backing to get in the runs as he has been scoring consistently recently. He has scored 20, 66, 30, 15 and 28 in his last five knocks.

Australia Form


Australia come into the 2nd ODI on the back of three straight wins followed by heavy back-to-back defeats, so they’re not a side that will be full of confidence. 

Matthew Short (55) and Matt Renshaw (61) were the only top six batters to pass 20, and both have been scoring good runs of late.

Nathan Ellis has figures of 1/14, 2/26 and 2/45 in his last three matches and is a good option to back as Australia’s best bowler in the 2nd ODI.

Verdict

I’m backing Pakistan for a series-clinching victory, with Babar Azam to score 37 runs or more, Arafat Minhas to take at least two wickets and Nathan Ellis to be Australia’s best bowler.
