Joburg Super Kings vs MI Cape Town Predictions

It is always tough to predict at the start of the season before teams have played. But I am going to back MI Cape Town after their dominant performance last time out.

Head to Head

These two sides have met on four occasions with each winning twice. The Super Kings won the last match against MI Cape Town by 10 wickets.

Joburg Super Kings Form

The Joburg Super Kings finished fourth on the SA20 table in 2024. They won the eliminator against the Paarl Royals before going down to Durban Super Giants in the second qualifier.

This season promises to be another good one for the Johannesburg-based outfit. They will have to improve on their consistency and perhaps get a few more away results to really challenge for the title.

Joburg Super Kings Injuries & Team News

Faf du Plessis captains the side following his move from the Paarl Royals. The rest of the squad looks good as well with international stars, Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow in the mix.

MI Cape Town Form

MI Cape Town finished bottom of the 2024 SA20 table and will want to make things right this season. They started with a bang, winning by 97 runs against the defending champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape in their opener.

Batting first, MI Cape got a decent start, but it was left to Dewald Brevis to score 57 off 29 balls to propel the visitors to 174 in 20 overs. Delano Potgieter contributed with a 12-ball 25 late on.

Potgieter’s debut continued to get better with a stellar bowling performance. The debutant took an incredible 5-10 in three overs as the Sunrisers were all out for 77 runs.

MI Cape Town Injuries & Team News

Ryan Rickelton did not play in the last game and could return for this one. Otherwise, I don’t foresee many changes.

Verdict

Joburg Super Kings v MI Cape Town

MI Cape Town are set for victory in the SA20 against Joburg Kings. I am backing Dewald Brevis to top score once again.

For the Super Kings, it is tough as they have not played so there is little form to go on. Faf du Plessis may however offer some value.
