MI Cape Town vs Durban's Super Giants Predictions - Van der Dussen to slam-dunk the Super Giants

MI Cape Town won their last match against the Super Giants by seven wickets. The previous match was rained-out, but the Super Giants won the three matches before that.

MI Cape Town bounced back from finishing last in the first two seasons of the SA20 to claim their maiden title in the 2024/25 season.

Ryan Rickelton was one of the top batters in the tournament, scoring over 20 in seven consecutive innings, including three half-centuries. Along with Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen and Jason Smith they form a powerful top-order. 

Their bowling is world-class, with Proteas’ speedster Kagiso Rabada leading an attack that includes Rashid Khan (one of the world’s most dangerous spinners), paceman Trent Boult and big-hitting all-rounders Corbin Bosch, Dwaine Pretorious and George Linde. 

The Super Giants finished last on the table last season, but have been strengthened by the addition of Proteas’ star batter Aiden Markram, who scored 340 runs last season (ave 37.77).

The Super Giants have one of the strongest top-orders in the competition, including Kane Williamson, Heinrch Klaassen, Marques Ackerman, David Bedingham, Jos Buttler, Evan Jones and Devon Conway. Buttler is potentially their kingmaker and has had a brilliant season in the various T20 tournaments, racking up 1503 runs at an average of 41.8 (S/R 157.2).

They have a strong line-up of all-rounders, including Sunil Narine (unavailable for the first few matches), Andile Simelane and David Wiese. Their bowling line-up includes quality performers like Eathan Bosch, Gerald Coetzee, Daryn Dupavillon, Dayyam Galiem and Kwena Maphaka. A lot of quality, but they lack that extra spark that exists throughout the MI Cape Town squad.  

Aside from defending their trophy, SA20 star batter Rassie van der Dussen is looking to impress the national selectors ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

"I know what I can offer. I'm literally taking it like tournament by tournament, and looking after my body. I don't have any plans of stopping anytime soon. I'm definitely not going anywhere. I don't have any long-term focus. I really want to do well now again for MICT, and in this tournament. I really want to do well in this tournament. It's a great tournament to be part of. And I am really chuffed to be here," said Van der Dussen ahead of the opening match
