Both teams are fighting for a top two spot, and the good news is they have an extra match in hand compared to top-of-the-table Pretoria Capitals. The two teams have almost identical records, but the Sunrisers have picked up two bonus points. They also have home ground advantage and have secured a win in their last three games, while the Super Kings’ last win was five games ago. Both sides have had two abandoned games in their last four matches.

The Sunrisers have been batting and bowling superbly this season, and have three batters in the top nine runs list: Quinton de Kock (218), Jordan Hermann (175) and Jonny Bairstow (162). They will be boosted by Tristan Stubbs having found form in the win over the Super Giants and will hope Matthew Breetzke gets an opportunity to weigh in with some runs.

James Vince has scored two impressive 70s to take him to the top of the Super Kings runs list, but it’s a huge blow to lose Faf du Plessis for the rest of the season through injury after scoring 135 runs at a strike-rate of 151.68. Dian Forrester’s powerful 80* off 42 balls took his side close to beating MI Cape Town, and they will hope his form continues for the remainder of the season.

Daniel Worrall (2/37, econ 9.25) was the only Super Kings bowler to go for under 10 runs to the over in the defeat to MI Cape Town. Richard Gleeson is his side’s leading wicket-taker with nine wickets in just four innings, taking 2/33, 3/2, 3/41 and 1/51 in his four appearances to date.

Sunrisers have signed Australian spinner Chris Green as a replacement for Sri Lankan spinner Tharindu Ratnayake. Green has turned out recently for the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash, as well as playing in the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League and Pakistan Super League.

It’s bad news for the Joburg Super Kings, however, as they have lost skipper Faf du Plessis for the rest of the SA20 season. The former Proteas captain sustained a right thumb ligament tear fielding in the defeat to MI Cape Town. Donovan Ferreira takes over as captain, with Leus du Plooy coming in for Du Plessis.
