Durham and Leicestershire face off with playoffs in sight. While Durham needs a win to seal a playoff spot, Leicestershire must secure two wins. Key players include Will Rhodes and Colin Ackermann for Durham, and Rehan Ahmed and Ben Cox for Leicestershire. Historically, Durham has the upper hand with recent victories over Leicestershire. Despite Durham's recent defeats, the return of David Bedingham could bolster their lineup. Durham are just one win ahead of Leicestershire but need the win to seal their place in the playoffs. Leicestershire will be a tough opponent as they need two wins to secure a playoff place, but I’m backing Durham as their top-order is in better form.

  • Durham’s Colin Ackermann has scored 24, 83, 27 & 42 in his last 5 innings.
  • Leicestershire’s Rehan Ahmed scored 52 off 30 balls in his last 5 innings.
  • Leicestershire’s Ben Cox scored 70 off 44 balls against Worcestershire.

After winning three matches on the bounce, Durham slumped to two defeats on the trot, the second being a three-wicket loss to Lancashire. 

Durham were in trouble at 46/3 after seven overs before Colin Ackermann (42 off 35  balls) and Ollie Robinson (35 off 22 balls) added 68 for the fourth wicket. The tail failed to wagged and Durham ended on 155/7 off their 20 overs.

Lancashire raced to the win with eight balls to spare and three wickets in hand. Nathan Sowter (2/24, econ 6.00) was the pick of the Durham bowlers, picking up a pair of Lancashire top-six wickets.

David Bedingham’s return from international duty didn’t make a difference in the defeat to Lancashire, but his presence is sure to boost the Durham top-order as they look to secure their playoff place. 

Leicestershire Form


After picking up a win over Northants, Leicestershire lost to Worcestershire to make it three defeats from four.   

Leicestershire got off to a bad start, losing their first four wickets for just 59 runs. Ben Cox (70* off 44 balls) top-scored while lifting Leicestershire to 173/6 off their 20 overs. 

Worcestershire powered their way to a six-wicket win with 13 balls to spare. Tom Scriven (2/22, econ 5.50) was the pick of the Leicestershire bowlers.
