Glamorgan vs Surrey Predictions

Surrey were undefeated this season until their loss in their Vitality Blast opener, but they have a strong squad and a great white-ball record against Glamorgan, so I am backing Surrey for the win.

  • Surrey’s Jason Roy has scored 73, 26 & 92 in his last 6 innings.
  • Surrey’s Sam Curran has scored 88, 70, 77 & 22 in his last 5 innings.
  • Glamorgan’s Kiran Carlson has scored 5 & 109 in his last 3 innings.
  • Glamorgan’s Ben Kellaway has scored 95 & 181* in his last 4 innings.

Head-to-Head

Surrey have won four and lost none of their last five matches against Glamorgan. The other match was rained-off.

Glamorgan Form

Glamorgan demolished Middlesex in the opening match of the Vitality Blast season at Lord’s, beating them by five wickets with 27 balls to spare.

Middlesex got off to a slow start and Glamorgan kept them under pressure throughout their 20 overs. Mason Crane (4/28, econ 7.00) knocked over three of the Middlesex top four as they struggled to reach 124/9 in their allotted overs.

Glamorgan were in trouble at 40/4, but an undefeated sixth-wicket stand of 66 between Asa Tribe (40* off 26 balls) and Dan Douthwaite (31* off 19 balls) saw them home with plenty of time to spare.

Glamorgan Team News

Glamorgan’s squad is understandably unchanged after their great start to the tournament. Young Ben Kellaway’s brilliant red-ball form with the bat could translate into a second successful white-ball season in a row for him in England.

Surrey Form

Surrey lost their opening match of the Vitality Blast season away to Somerset by five wickets.

Jason Roy (92 off 54 balls) dominated the Surrey innings, but with little support the visitors could only manage to post 146/9 off their 20 overs. Skipper Sam Curran (22) was the only other Surrey batter to reach double figures.

Somerset got off to a great start and, despite losing four wickets for 24 runs mid-innings, they slid home comfortably with five wickets and 13 balls in hand. Yousef Majid (2/26, econ 6.50) was the pick of the Surrey bowlers.

Surrey Team News

Surrey have shown confidence in the quality of their squad by naming an unchanged squad for the match. Their top order is strong so they are unlikely to tinker with their line-up.

Verdict

I am backing Surrey to win. I am also backing Jason Roy to top score for Surrey.

Kiran Carlson is a good bet to top score for Glamorgan.
