England have been far from at their best during the World Cup but have scraped together two wins out of three. Their top order has been inconsistent but they have power-hitters deep down the order. Italy pulled off a spectacular 10-wicket win over Nepal, but I can’t see them putting up much resistance against England.

England bounced back from defeat against the West Indies to pick up a five-wicket win over Scotland, their second win in this year’s World Cup.

Jofra Archer (2/24, econ 6.00) was on song with the ball, restricting Scotland to 42/3 in the sixth over. Liam Dawson (2/34) snapped up two top-six wickets, but it was Adil Rashid who was again the star of the show for England with the ball, taking 3/36 at nine runs to the over.

After losing two early wickets, Jacob Bethell (32 off 28) and Tom Banton (63* off 41) put England back on track for victory. Sam Curran (28 off 20) and Will Jacks (16* off 10) helped them over the line with 10 balls to spare.

Italy Form

Italy picked up a 10-wicket win over Nepal in their second match of the World Cup after losing their opener to Scotland.

Crishan Kalugamage (3/18, econ 4.50) and Ben Manenti (2/9, econ 2.25) starred with the ball as Nepal were rolled for 123 in the 20th over of their innings.

Brothers Justin Mosca (60* off 44) and Anthony Mosca (62* off 32) shared nine sixes as they raced to a 10-wicket win off just 12.4 overs.

Speaking in the post-match interviews, England skipper Harry Brook was relieved that his side secured the win over Scotland, which put them in a strong position to progress to the Super 8s.

"Just glad we got over the line. They batted well against the spinners in their first spells, but we dragged it back really well. I've always got confidence, knew it would be a decent wicket,” said Brook.

“With the outfield, we didn't need to take too many risks. When it's there to be hit for six, hit it for six. Sam's cameo was really good to see, too. Don't want to hit it too early, but got to get through the group stage. Hopefully Italy can be the start of our rise," added Brook.

Italian captain Harry Manenti was thrilled to have led his country to their first ever cricket World Cup win.

"It's pretty extraordinary really. It's something a lot of people in Italy, a lot of people in this group, have dreamed of. We didn't quite nail it the other day but we backed up today and showed the world what we've got,” said Manenti

"The last few days have been good. We enjoy each other's company, we sit down and have a meal with each other each night. We've got brothers in our side… and I see it that we have 15 of them."
