South Africa were tripped up by Namibia in their opening match of the tournament, losing by 18 runs. They bounced back in their next match by beating Zimbabwe by seven wickets with 38 balls to spare.

The South African bowlers pegged Zimbabwe back after their openers put on 45 for the first wicket off five overs. The Proteas knocked over their next five wickets for just 47 runs as Zimbabwe struggled to post 144/8 off their 20 overs. Duan Jansen (3/45) and Prenelan Subrayen (2/27) were the destroyers-in-chief.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius (22 off 13) and Jordan Hermann (20 off 13) got South Africa off to a quick start, but the star of the innings was once again Dewald Brevis, who followed up his 75 against Namibia with an unbeaten 75 off just 32 balls. Brevis hit seven fours and six sixes in his lightning innings as South Africa reached their target off just 13.4 overs.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe’s tournament began with that seven-wicket defeat to South Africa, but they picked up a win in their next match by scraping home against Namibia by five runs.

Ben Curran (38 off 22) and Brian Bennett (32 off 21) got Zimbabwe off to a good start for the second match in a row, adding 64 for the first wicket. They slipped to 79/5 inside 10 overs before Ryan Burl (57* off 32) and Brad Evans (37 off 24) added an unbeaten 94 for the seventh wicket to set Namibia a target of 196.

Brian Bennett picked up two wickets in his one over as Namibia slumped to 76/6 but they recovered as the lower middle-order lifted them to within five runs of their target. Brad Evans (3/41) was the pick of the Zimbabwe bowlers.
