Last updated: 1 hour ago

Arsenal is projected to secure a win without conceding against Aston Villa. Betting recommendations highlight Kai Havertz as a solid choice to score for Arsenal, while John McGinn presents value for those backing Aston Villa, especially with attractive odds. Additionally, Losetop is signaled as a top scoring threat for Villa. Overall, Arsenal win to nil is considered the strongest bet, with Havertz and McGinn as potential anytime scorers depending on side preference.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal Predictions

Aston Villa have had a horror start to their season after a poor pre-season, scoring three times in four matches while conceding 10 goals. Arsenal won both of their opening matches of the competitive season by 3-0 margins (vs Manchester City and Coventry) and I’d back to them for another win to nil

  • Aston Villa lost their Premier League opener 4-0 away to Brighton.
  • Aston Villa have conceded 10 goals to three scored in their last 4 matches.
  • Aston Villa lost 4-1 to Arsenal in their meeting in December 2025.
  • Aston Villa’s John McGinn has scored in 2 of his last 3 matches.
  • Arsenal have won their last 3 matches.
  • Arsenal have conceded just 1 goal in their last 3 matches.
  • Arsenal’s Kai Havertz has scored in Arsenal’s two competitive matches this season.
  • Arsenal’s Kai Havertz has scored 4 goals in 7 matches for Arsenal and Germany.

Head-to-Head

Arsenal have won three and lost two of their last five matches away to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Aston Villa Form

Aston Villa sunk to their fourth defeat in a row this season as they went down 4-0 away to Brighton in their Premier League opener. Villa’s afternoon at the Amex Stadium was disastrous, with a Victor Lindelof own goal and a debut red card for Joao Gomes contributing to a miserable defeat.

It remains to be seen whether that opening-weekend setback points to deeper problems after the departures of Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans, or simply proves to be an early-season stumble. The board have already acted decisively, bringing in Leon Goretzka and Nicolas Jackson, who is expected to succeed Ollie Watkins in attack.

The two players will look to keep Villa's unique form against the defending Premier League champions going. The hosts have beaten the eigning champions at home in each of their last three seasons, beating Liverpool last season having knocked over Man City in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.

Impressive though that stat is, it’s not something I’d want to test in the market unless there was a massive payoff, as Villa are looking poor while Arsenal are a team on fire.

Arsenal Form

Arsenal made it three wins on the bounce at the start of the season, following up their penalty shootout win over Como in their last pre-season friendly and a 3-0 win over title rival Man City in the Community Shield. They then hammered Coventry 3-0 to kick-start their Premier League title defence in style.

Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard have both scored in each of Arsenal’s two competitive matches this season, first against Manchester City in the Community Shield and then against Coventry in their Premier League opener.

Ezri Konsa is available to face former club Villa after his £55m move to the Gunners, although it would make sense for him to be eased into action from the bench. Bruno Guimaraes could return to action, but Jurrien Timber and William Saliba remain out of commission. Villa can call on Nicolas Jackson and Leon Goretzka, while Joao Gomes and Amadou Onana are unavailable.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal Team News & Squads

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery was optimistic that new signing Leon Goretzka (Bayern Munich) was likely to play against Arsenal.

Goretzka brings "high-level experience… he is a winner. He is a very competitive player, he's still young at 31-years-old and he's a good player to add into our squad. He is a versatile player, he can play in different positions and he arrives fit and he is training well," said  Emery in a press conference.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed in his press conference that new signing Ezri Konsa "has been training really well" and is likely to play against face his former club on Monday. He added that Bruno Guimaraes was an injury concern while lGabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli had personal issues that had limited their training opportunities.

Arteta was also confident that his squad has what it takes to defend their Premier League title. "It’s the best squad that we have, or we believe that we could have right now, and that’s it. That’s not the best squad that we’re going to have in a month’s time because hopefully the players will improve, the team will improve and we’ll be better."

Aston Villa (predicted XI): Suzuki; Cash, Lindelof, Torres, Ruggeri; Bogarde, Kamara; Buendia, Barkley, McGinn; Jackson.

Arsenal (predicted XI): Raya; White, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Lewis-Skelly; Saka, Odegaard, Tzolis; Havertz.

Verdict

I am backing Arsenal to win to nil. I am also backing Kai Havertz to score for Arsenal, while John McGinn offers a good payout if he scores for Villa.
