Last updated: 1 hour ago

South Africa Women are strong favorites heading into their match against Zimbabwe, with emphasis on Anneke Bosch as the top batter and bowlers Seshnie Naidu and Lindokuhle Mabhero both predicted to take over 1.5 wickets. Michelle Mavunga is also highlighted for Zimbabwe. With form and odds favoring the Proteas, expect South Africa’s performance to be driven by batting and bowling strengths, making them the team to watch in this encounter.

  • Zimbabwe Women have lost their last five T20Is by large margins.
  • Anneke Bosch scored back-to-back half-centuries in the first two T20Is.
  • Both sides will look to bat first to take advantage of the early pitch conditions as chasing is more challenging on this wicket through the day.

Zimbabwe vs South Africa Women Predictions

South Africa Women have won four of their last five T20Is and are looking in excellent form. Zimbabwe have some talented players but they lack the strength in depth to give the Proteas a serious challenge.

  • Zimbabwe Women’s Michelle Mavunga has scores of 28*, 38 & 21 in her last 4 knocks.
  • Zimbabwe Women’s Christine Mutasa scored 30* in the 2nd T20I.
  • Zimbabwe Women’s Lindokuhle Mabhero has figures of 4/13, 2/16 & 1/40 in 4 matches.
  • South Africa Women’s Anneke Bosch has scored 48, 83 & 65 in her last 4 matches.
  • South Africa Women’s Faye Tunnicliffe has scores of 116, 82, 41* & 52* in 5 innings.
  • South Africa Women’s Seshnie Naidu took 3/26 in the 2nd T20I.

Head-to-Head

South Africa Women have won both of their previous two T20Is against Zimbabwe, which have both been in the current series in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Women Form

Zimbabwe Women will look for a stronger batting display after struggling to build momentum in the previous match. Their hopes will again rest on Nyasha Gwanzura, Kelid Ndhlovu, Beloved Biza, Modester Mupachikwa and Michelle Mavumga to provide the bulk of the runs.

Christine Mutasa was the standout performer last time out, top-scoring with 30 from 26 balls, including two fours and a six. Gwanzura added 18, while Nomvelo Sibanda contributed 15 and both Ndhlovu and Mupachikwa made 13. Zimbabwe will need more substantial partnerships if they are to put South Africa under pressure.

With the ball, the hosts will look to Sibanda, Gwanzura, Biza, Tendai Makusha and Lindokhule Mabhero for breakthroughs. Michelle Mavunga and Makusha each claimed a wicket in the previous encounter, but Zimbabwe will need a more consistent collective effort to slow South Africa’s powerful batting lineup.

South Africa Women Form

South Africa Women head into the contest in a commanding position after taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series. Their batting has been particularly impressive, with several players contributing strongly.

Anneke Bosch starred in the previous game, smashing 65 from only 31 deliveries with 12 boundaries. Faye Tunnicliffe was equally effective, finishing unbeaten on 52 from 34 balls, while Annerie Dercksen added a rapid 38 from 20 deliveries. With Laura Wolvaardt, Nondumiso Shangase and Kayla Reyneke also available, South Africa possess considerable depth through the order.

Their bowling has also been effective. Seshnie Naidu led the attack last time out with 3/26 from four overs, while Bosch contributed with the ball by taking 2/5 in two overs. Eliz-Mari Marx, Caitlin Wyngaard, Nthabiseng Nini and Reyneke provide further options as the visitors look to move closer to securing the series.

Team news

We’re in for a good day in Bulawayo with clear skies and humidity close to 28%. There should be some early movement with the new ball but batting conditions should be good. A good first innings score on this pitch will be close to 170 for a women’s T20I.

Zimbabwe Women (possible XI): Kelis Ndhlovu (c), Beloved Biza, Sharne Mayers, Nyasha Gwanzura, Loreen Tshuma, Modester Mupachikwa, Michelle Mavunga, Nomvelo Sibanda, Christine Mutasa, Tendai Makusha, Lindokhule Mabhero.

South Africa Women (possible XI): Laura Wolvaardt (c), Anneke Bosch, Faye Tunnicliffe, Kayla Reyneke, Annerie Dercksen, Nondumiso Shangase, Karabo Meso (wk), Eliz-Mari Marx, Nthabiseng Nini, Caitlin Wyngaard, Seshnie Naidu.

Verdict

South Africa Women are strong in the odds for the win. Michelle Mavunga and Lindokuhle Mabhero are backed to star for Zimbabwe, while Anneke Bosch and Seshnie Naidu are in form with bat and ball for the Proteas.
