England vs West Indies Predictions

England are favourites to whitewash the West Indies 3-0. The second Test was a lot more competitive though and the Windies will be fighting to stop a 3-0 defeat. I am sticking with Joe Root in the run scoring departments.

England have won their last 2 Test matches against the West Indies.

England lead the three-match Test series 2-0 after winning the opening two games.

England Form

England secured the series with a very good win in the second Test. Unlike the first Test, England had to battle against a determined Windies side.

Batting first, Ollie Pope top scored with 121 runs in a 416 total. West Indies responded well though, scoring 457 runs. England then scored 400+ again, this time Joe Root and Harry Brook both scored 100+ runs.

Needing to defend 385, England were brilliant with the ball, bowling West Indies out for 143 runs. Shoaib Bashir took 5-41.

England Injuries & Team News

With the series in the bag England may look to make a couple of changes. However, I can’t see any more than perhaps one or two.

West Indies Form

The West Indies will be more pleased with their performance in the second Test after they hardly competed in the first. However, the defeat will still hurt after they had a first innings lead.

England scored 416 before West Indies responded with 457 runs. Kavem Hodge scored 120 while Alick Athanaze and Joshua Da Siva both added 82 runs.

However, the bowlers again allowed England to cruise to 425 runs at close to five per over. That left the West Indies needing 385 for victory. They could only muster 143 with Kraigg Brathwaite top scoring on 47 runs.

West Indies Injuries & Team News

West Indies will be pleased with their overall effort but the bowlers will have to start offering more threat against the attacking style of England.

Verdict

I am backing Joe Root to score 50+ runs in the first innings, a 100+ in the match and top score for England in the first innings.

For the Windies, I’m tipping Kraigg Brathwaite to top score.
