Western Province vs Knights Predictions


The Knights are the defending champs and enjoyed a superb season. Province lost their opener to the Titans on Friday but I’m backing them to step it up a gear in a second home match in three days.

  • Western Province’s Joshua van Heerden has scored 61, 72* & 64 in his last 3 knocks.
  • Western Province’s Edward Moore scored 62 off 48 balls against the Titans.
  • Western Province’s Raeeq Daniels has taken 10 wickets in his last 4 innings.

  • Knights’ Jacques Snyman has scored 46, 82, 156 & 36 in his last 5 knocks.
  • Knights’ Gihahn Cloete has scores of 52, 79, 43 & 118 in his last 6 innings.

Western Province have won two and lost two of their last four matches in the CSA T20 Challenge against the Knights.

Western Province Form


Western Province will look to build on an encouraging batting display in their opening match after posting what looked like a competitive score (186). Edward Moore and Joshua van Heerden both struck half-centuries in providing a strong platform and underlining their importance at the top of the order.

Daniel Smith, Valentine Kitime and George Linde offer further batting options, with Linde’s all-round ability adding valuable balance to the side.

The bowling attack will look for greater consistency after Raeeq Daniels impressed with 3/27 from his four overs on Friday. Tshepo Moreki picked up two wickets but proved expensive, leaving room for improvement in his economy rate.

Oliver Whitehead and Jody Lawrence provide additional options as Western Province aim to produce a more complete performance against the defending champions.

Knights Form


Knights begin the defence of the T20 title that came on the back of an impressive run to the final and captain Malusi Siboto will be hoping his side can quickly rediscover that winning formula, with a number of key performers returning.

Cole Abrahams was their leading run-scorer in the previous tournament with 184 runs from six innings. Jacques Snyman, Gihahn Cloete and Ruan Haasbroek add further experience and attacking potential to the top order. 

The bowling attack could again be a major strength or the defending champions. Sisanda Magala was outstanding last season, taking nine wickets in four matches at an economy rate of just 6.61. His ability to strike while keeping the scoring under control will be important.

Siboto, Ross Boast and Mbongiseni Mhlanga provide additional wicket-taking options as Knights look to begin their title defence with a victory.
