Rainbow Bridge went on to more disappointment in the Queen’s Plate and the SunMet, but finally got over the line first at the Gold Challenge. Eric Sands’ star will not be keen on more disappointment in Durban this year.

SunMet winner Vardy was pipped by Rainbow Bridge in the Gold Challenge, so there is extra motivation to gain revenge in Durban.

Three-year-old Got The Greenlight won the Daily News 2000 and is considered an outsider for the Durban July 2020.

Twist Of Fate, Eyes Wide Open, and Miyabi Gold finished in the top five of last year's Durban July behind Do It Again and Rainbow Bridge and will be running again this year.

Soqrat is potentially Mike De Kock’s only representative for the race, while Sean Tarry is pinning his hopes on Shango and Tierra Del Fuego.
