Otago vs Tasman Predictions

Otago fell short in their previous NPC fixture but have consistently won their home matches in recent seasons. Tasman have been in solid form lately, but their away form is lacking.

  • Otago have won 3 of their last 4 fixtures.
  • Otago have won 8 of their last 9 home matches.
  • Tasman have lost 3 of their last 4 away games.
  • Tasman have lost 2 consecutive away matches against Otago.

Head to Head

Tasman have a slight edge over Otago, with eight victories to six in 14 meetings in the National Provincial Championship.

Otago Form

Otago scored four tries and two conversions in the first half against Hawke's Bay last weekend to lead 24-14 at half-time.

However, the away side failed to add any points to their tally in the second half, losing 35-24 away to Hawke's Bay.

Before that performance, the Blue and Gold defeated Southland 41-14 away from home and lost 19-15 to Canterbury at home before beating Manawatu 29-27 away and Wellington 61-22 and Waikato 43-38 at home, respectively.

Otago are fourth in the NPC table with 22 points after six rounds.

Otago have been playing well this season and have a proven track record at home recently, winning eight of their last nine fixtures, giving them the advantage to secure another victory and take a step closer to the play-offs.

Tasman Form

Tasman scored a converted try in the first half against Wellington last weekend, going into the break trailing 14-7.

However, the home team were in fine form in the second stanza, scoring five converted tries to beat Wellington 42-28 at home.

Earlier in their campaign, the Makos edged North Harbour 31-29 at home, lost 50-19 away to Hawke's Bay, and defeated Counties Manukau 50-35 away and Southland 46-17 at home before losing 20-10 away to Northland.

Tasman are fifth in the National Provincial Championship standings with 20 points from six games.

Tasman have had success in the league lately, but they have struggled on the road, losing three of their last four matches, and their previous two visits to Otago.
