Head to Head

The Griquas and Pumas have each won 13 matches apiece, including one draw in 27 meetings in the Carling Currie Cup since 2010.

Griquas Form

The Griquas recorded their seventh consecutive victory in this edition of the Currie Cup last weekend, thrashing the Golden Lions 52-12 at home in the semi-finals after leading 35-5 at half-time.

Earlier in their campaign, the defending champions lost 25-19 away to the Stormers before bouncing back with home wins over the Blue Bulls 56-26, Cheetahs 24-21, and Golden Lions 31-19, followed by away victories over the Pumas 38-14 and Boland 48-17.

The Suzuki Griquas placed first in the Currie Cup table during the regular season with 31 points from seven matches.

The Griquas have been the top-performing team this season, winning seven consecutive matches, giving them the edge to see off the Pumas in the final and secure back-to-back Currie Cup titles.

Pumas Form

The Pumas pulled off an upset away victory over the Cheetahs in their Currie Cup semi-final clash last weekend, winning 27-24 after trailing 10-3 at the break.

Before that excellent result, the team from Mpumalanga lost 26-24 at home to the Sharks and 52-29 away to the Golden Lions before beating Boland 20-15 and the Bulls 33-31 away from home. They then secured a 29-7 home win over the Stormers, followed by a 38-14 home defeat to the Griquas, before bouncing back with a thumping 52-26 victory over the Cheetahs at home.

The Airlink Pumas finished third in the Carling Currie Cup table during the regular season with 22 points from seven matches.

The Pumas have found form during the latter part of their season, but they did lose 38-14 to the Griquas at home earlier in their campaign, and their hosts have registered 11 consecutive victories at home in Kimberley.
