Western Province vs Warriors

Western Province open their campaign at Newlands aiming for an improved season after finishing in the lower half of the table with three wins and four defeats. Daniel Smith was their leading run-scorer last year with 665 runs, while Dane Paterson spearheaded the attack with 29 wickets at an excellent average of 17.20.

The Warriors arrive with stronger recent credentials after reaching last season’s final and will again expect to challenge for the title. Jordan Hermann led their batting with 602 runs, while Matthew Boast was the competition’s standout bowler with 43 wickets. The Warriors also beat Western Province by 48 runs in their previous meeting.

Predicted teams: Western Province - Daniel Smith (c), Kashief Josephs, Joshua Van Heerden, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne, Valentine Kitime, Kyle Simmonds, Beuran Hendricks, Dane Paterson, Mbulelo Dube.

Warriors - Senuran Muthusamy (c), Sinethemba Qeshile, Sibonelo Makhanya, Modiri Litheko, JP King, Matthew Breetzke, Patrick Kruger, Matthew Boast, Aphiwe Mnyanda, Wesley Bedja, Gideon Peters.

Knights vs North West

The Knights return to Division One after dominating the second tier last season, winning five of their six matches to earn promotion. They will be eager to make an immediate impact at home in Bloemfontein, with Gihahn Cloete and captain Dane Piedt key figures after strong campaigns. Cloete scored 743 runs in Division Two, while Piedt took 26 wickets in nine innings.

North West endured a more inconsistent 2025-26 season but possessed proven quality, particularly through Rubin Hermann, who scored 552 runs at an average above 55. The previous meeting between these teams in 2024 ended in a draw.

Predicted teams: Knights - Dane Piedt (c), Isaac Dikgale, Gihahn Cloete, Patrick Botha, Ruben Maree, Ruan Haasbroek, Seth Fledermaus, Tiann Van Vuuren, Ross Boast, Malusi Siboto and Sithembile Langa.

North West - Lesiba Ngoepe (c), Meeka-eel Prince, Diego Rosier, Onke Nyaku, Dian Forrester, Ruan de Swardt, Ludwich Schuld, Jade de Klerk, Caleb Seleka, Alfred Mothoa, Carl Fryer.

Lions vs Boland

Defending champions the Lions start their title defence at the Wanderers after an impressive 2025-26 campaign in which they won three matches, lost one and drew three. They will be expected to challenge strongly again, particularly at home, with Conor Esterhuizen having topped their batting charts last season with 791 runs. Wiaan Mulder also played a major role with the ball, taking 22 wickets in eight innings.

Boland finished fourth last season and will hope to improve on that showing, with Gavin Kaplan coming off an outstanding campaign of 903 runs. Interestingly, the last four meetings between these sides have all ended in draws.

Predicted teams: Lions - Dominic Hendricks (c), Ryan Rickelton, Temba Bavuma, Zubayr Hamza, Wiann Mulder, Joshua Richards, Delano Potgieter, Codi Yusuf, Lutho Sipamla, Beyers Swanepoel, Siya Plaatjie.

Boland - Clyde Fortuin (c), Blayde Capell, Gavin Kaplan, Aviwe Mgijima, Lehan Botha, Jhedli van Briesies, Shaun Von Berg, Keith Dudgeon, Jevano Baron, Glenton Stuurman, Siyabonga Mahima.

Titans vs Dolphins

The Titans begin the new CSA Four-Day Series season looking to build on the strong finish that saw them win their final three matches last term. Their late surge came after four straight defeats, while the Dolphins narrowly missed the final after finishing third, just three points short.

The previous meeting at SuperSport Park proved costly for the Dolphins, with Duan Jansen and Janco Smit helping the Titans bowl them out cheaply. Keegan Petersen was among last season’s leading run-scorers, while Jansen claimed 24 wickets at an average of 18.83. Dolphins will look to Tshepang Dithole and Eathan Bosch for a stronger response.
