Madison County is my call to take Race 1.
One Eye On Dubai looks the strongest runner in Race 4.
Frangipani is strongly fancied in Race 5.
There are nine races at Vaal on Thursday starting at 12:00 SAST.

Race 1 – Madison County (6)

Jockey: G Lerena | Trainer: Michael Nicholas Houdalakis

Madison County is a three-year-old bay filly making her racing debut, with a lot expected of her. Sired by Gimmethegreenlight out of Meryl, she's in a field where only Pista Resistance (a non-runner in Race 1), Erik's Girl, Charleston Dawn and Shiraz Glow have a career third place to their credit, so the field is open wide.

Bellflower has had a decent start to her career with finishes of 6-5-4 in her first three runs and there are several interesting newcomers to add an element of uncertainty to the opener.

Race 4 – One Eye On Dubai (5)

Jockey: Gavin Lerena | Trainer: Mike de Kock

One Eye On Dubai made an encouraging debut to take fourth place over 1200m and should appreciate the substantial step up to 1700m. The well-related three-year-old import should also benefit considerably from that first racecourse experience.

One Eye On Dubai is iRace's Best Win of the meeting and could have considerably more improvement available than his more exposed opponents. Midnight Show and Imyourhuckleberry provide the strongest form opposition.

Race 5 – Frangipani (3)

Jockey: Muzi Yeni | Trainer: R Klaasen

Frangipani has been performing consistently in stronger company and finished a close second over 2000m on her latest appearance. The drop to 1700m should not inconvenience her and she remains competitively weighted.

Frangipani narrowly heads Winning Form's predicted finish ahead of Surprise Party and is also one of its four Best Bets on Thursday's card. Into Dancing is respected after narrowly failing to complete a hat-trick last time.

Race 9 – Hemisphere (1)

Jockey: Girish Samo-Burthia | Trainer: Fabian Habib

Hemisphere bounced back to form when finishing second over 1200m last time after joining the Habib stable, with the reapplication of blinkers seemingly producing the desired improvement.

Hemisphere drops in class and benefits from his apprentice rider's allowance. Nkandla Gold and the lightly weighted Jet Cat rate as significant dangers, but Hemisphere can capitalise on the easier assignment and finish the meeting with a victory.
