Turbulent is a strong favourite in race 1.

Race 1 – Turbulent (1)

We start the day with a big field of 14 runners but with no wins to show in any of their last six runs and few second places. Turbulent is the most promising runner, despite finishing fifth in his last run but it came on the back of a decent stretch of 3-2-4 finishes.

J Lordi (4.00) is the next best rated runner who has run 7-3-4 in his only career runs, but I don’t see the 3-yr-old bay gelding having the power to outpace Turbulent.

Race 2 – Nobody's Perfect (6)

Trainer: Justin Snaith

Just the eight horses in the field and it looks a tight one, with four runners all looking like strong contenders. Nobody's Perfect is my favourite to take the win - the 3-yr-old bay filly is out of Querari and The Merry Widow and after a 20-day rest she should be raring to go. She debuted with a fourth place in February, then slipped to eighth position in April before running fourth and second in her last two runs.

Her challengers all look good, with Dancing Amber (4.50), Blazing Flame (5.50) and Remind Me Of You (4.00) all sure to push her hard for the line.

Race 6 – Bad Medicine (4)

Trainer: Kelly Mitchley

Bad Medicine and Gentleman Joe are both level pegged at odds of 3.25, but the whispers are that the 8-yr-old bay gelding Gentleman Joe might be off the pace despite a 105-day break from the track after runs of 1-7-3-4.

Bad Medicine has seven wins, two second places and two thirds in his 21-race career so the 5-yr-old bay gelding is not to be trifled with. He is also enjoying a stormer at the track, winning five races on the bounce after a change of ownership and stable.

Darling Girl is slated at odds of 23.00 dispute runs of 2-1-1-3 in her last four outings, but she ran just 15 days ago so she might be short on gas.

Race 8 – Slash 'n Burn (6)

Jockey: R Fourie

Trainer: Alan Greeff

Slash 'n Burn should have the legs to outpace some strong challenges from Rhythm (5.00), Bourne Supremacy (7.00) and Eugenius (8.00), but it could be a thriller. All three challengers have recent wins tucked away in their lockers but the 4-yr-old bay gelding Slash 'n Burn has placed 2-1-3-2 in his last four runs so his consistency is a strong factor.

Slash 'n Burn did run just 13 days ago in picking up a second place finish here at Fairview but he seems a strong runner so in a tight field he’s the one I’m backing.
