South Africa announce their squad for Australia ODI and T20I tour

Young sensation, Dewald Brevis has earned his maiden call-up to the national side. He is in both the ODI and T20 squads after topping the run-scoring charts during the 2022 U/19 World Cup.

Brevis has already featured in some of the top T20 leagues, including the IPL for the Mumbai Indians. He is expected to debut in both formats and should all go well, he may even force himself into the World Cup squad.

In other good news, left-arm off-spinner, Keshav Maharaj has also been included in the squad. He is ahead of his recovery time from injury and may feature should the recovery remain on course.

Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, Heinrich Klaasen and Anrich Nortje have been rested for the T20 series but are all in the ODI squad. This is to keep them fresh for the World Cup later this year, with the focus clearly on the 50-over game.

There are also newcomers, mostly in the T20 squad. Other than Brevis, Donovan Ferreira and Matthew Breetzke will be seeking their T20 debuts.

Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen make their return to the T20 squad after being dropped for the series against the West Indies earlier this year. Fast bowler Gerald Coetzee can also make his debut for the T20 side after already playing ODI and Test cricket for the Proteas.
