Auckland vs Hawke's Bay Predictions

Auckland recorded their first win of their campaign last weekend but have been struggling to consistently win their home games. Hawke's Bay have been on top of their game in the NPC this season and have had success against Auckland recently.

  • Hawke's Bay have won 5 of their last 6 fixtures.
  • Hawke's Bay have won 3 of their last 5 away games.
  • Hawke's Bay have won 2 consecutive matches against Auckland.
  • Auckland have lost 4 of their last 5 fixtures.
  • Auckland have lost 5 of their last 7 home games.

Head to Head

Auckland and Hawke's Bay have each won three matches in six meetings in the National Provincial Championship.

Auckland Form

Auckland scored three tries and a conversion in the first half against Wellington last weekend, but trailed 19-17 at half-time.

The team from Eden Park added another three tries and a conversion in the second half to beat Wellington 34-31 at home.

At the start of the NPC season, Auckland travelled to face Canterbury, coming up short, losing 38-31 away from home.

Auckland will be happy to have won at home, as they have been struggling to do so recently, with five defeats in their last seven outings, but they will have to play well to beat Hawke's Bay, as their opponents have been in great touch this season.

Hawke's Bay Form

Hawke's Bay produced a sublime first-half display against Tasman last weekend, scoring five tries and four conversions to lead 33-5 at the break.

Hawke's Bay added three more tries and a conversion to their tally in the second half to crush Tasman 50-19 at home.

Before that, the Magpies started their new National Provincial Championship season with a solid 55-33 away win against Wellington.

Hawke's Bay will be aiming to win for a third consecutive time this season, as they have been in fine form lately, scoring plenty of tries so far, and they have defeated Auckland twice in a row.
