Canterbury may be the most successful NPC side in history, but they have started the 2024 campaign poorly. They have just two wins from their five games and sit ninth on the table.

The Christchurch-based outfit made a winning start in the first round, defeating Northland 31-15 at home. They were then well beaten 22-7 at Tasman before defeating Auckland 27-21 away.

It was a double header week for Canterbury as they had a Wednesday game against defending champions, Hawkes Bay. Canterbury lost 27-21 at home. Last weekend, Canterbury put in possibly their worst performance to date, losing 46-21 at home to Wellington.
