UEFA Nations League Predictions - 29 September 2026, Round 2

UEFA Nations League Predictions, Round 2


Luxembourg vs Iceland


Luxembourg come into this in much stronger form, winning four of their last five matches: 2-1 against Bulgaria, 1-0 against Albania, 3-0 against Malta and 2-0 away to Malta, with only Italy beating them. That run includes three clean sheets. 

Iceland are winless in five, drawing three and losing twice but have conceded in all five of those game. Their Nations League opener ended 1-1 with Estonia, while Luxembourg won 2-1 in Bulgaria. Luxembourg to win is available around 3.10, which looks interesting given the contrast in recent form.

Slovenia vs North Macedonia


Neither side arrives in convincing form. Slovenia’s last five before the Nations League produced one win, two draws and two defeats, while they opened this campaign with a 0-0 draw against Scotland. North Macedonia’s problems are more severe: they had failed to win any of their previous five, scoring just once while suffering heavy defeats to Wales, Denmark and Türkiye, before losing 3-0 at home to Switzerland in their Nations League opener. 

North Macedonia have also recorded several goalless games recently, which has me leaning towards Slovenia as the more logical side to back, and with their opponents failing to score in seven of their last nine matches I’m backing a win to nil.

Scotland vs Switzerland


Scotland entered the Nations League after three successive wins, including 4-1 against Curaçao and 4-0 against Bolivia, but their campaign began cautiously with a 0-0 draw away to Slovenia. Switzerland’s recent sequence pre-tournament included three wins, a draw and one defeat, and they started impressively by beating North Macedonia 3-0. 

Switzerland have lost only once in their last 10 matches and have scored in eight of their last nine. There should be goals in this match, so I’m backing three goals or more, although Scotland’s failure to score in their opener has me concerned. Switzerland are averaging two goals a game over their last nine, so we should be in the ballpark although it is something of a speculative choice.

Slovakia vs Kazakhstan


Slovakia are in excellent scoring form with recent results of 2-0, 2-2, 2-1, 2-0 and 3-4 seeing them pick up three wins, one draw and one defeat, with 11 goals hitting the back of their opponents’ net. They opened their Nations League campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Moldova and look to be in good form. 

Kazakhstan drew 1-1 with the Faroe Islands in their opener and have now gone three matches without a win, following a 3-1 defeat to Hungary and a 1-1 draw with Armenia. Neither side looks big on scoring but their defences are pretty tight, so I’m thinking a match with less than three goals is on the cards.

Verdict

I’m backing wins for Luxembourg, Slovenia and Switzerland, while Slovakia vs Kazakhstan looks set to be a low-scorer.
