Southland vs Canterbury Predictions
Southland are on a three-match winning streak while Canterbury have won five in a row. However, Canterbury have looked a class apart this season, not conceding more than 15 points in a single fixture. I am backing them to cover the -13.5 handicap on Saturday.

Head to Head
Canterbury have won their last six matches against Southland.
Southland Form
Southland are having a very good season by their recent standards. With three wins from five, they sit in seventh place on 14 points.
What makes it even better is that Southland lost their first two games of the season to Otago and Northland. In round three, they found their feet in a 29-22 home win over Manawatu.
Two upsets followed in rounds four and five. Southland first beat Bay of Plenty 30-25 away from home and last weekend they saw off Waikato 25-10 in a cracking performance.
Canterbury Form
Canterbury are sitting pretty at the top of the NPC table and are the only unbeaten side remaining. They have won all five matches thus far.
Canterbury opened the season with a 33-15 away win over Wellington before sneaking over the line at home to Auckland by four points. They then defeated Bay of Plenty 21-7 away.
In round four, Canterbury had little trouble against Hawkes Bay away from home, winning the match 26-7. Last weekend was even more comfortable as they ran out 53-14 winners against Manawatu.
Verdict
I am of the belief that Canterbury are just too good defensively. I’m backing them to cover the -13.5 handicap.
