Surrey vs Northants Predictions

Surrey have had a phenomenal campaign, topping the South Group with 11 wins from 14 games. They should put Northants away easily after they came fourth in the North group (eight wins, six defeats.

Surrey’s Jason Roy has scored 23, 37 & 70 in his last 5 innings.
Surrey’s Sam Curran has scored 50*, 54, 30 & 27 in his last 5 innings.
Northants’ David Willey hit six sixes in his 32-ball 63 against Durham.
Northants’ Tim Robinson has scored 22, 63 & 69 in his last 5 innings.

Head-to-Head

Northants won the only previous Vitality Blast clash between the two sides, which was back in 2013. Northants won by 102 runs on the D/L Method.

Surrey Form

Surrey made it 10 wins from their last 11 matches in the Blast when they beat Sussex by seven runs.

Surrey posted a commanding 204/5 off their 20 overs. Will Jacks was again the star of the show with the bat for Surrey, scoring 100 off 59 balls.

Sussex chased superbly and were on course for the win before Sam Curran (4/18) ripped through their middle-order to secure the win.

Surrey Team News

Surrey have been hit by injuries and international duties to overseas stars Mitchell Santner, Adam Zampa and Nathan Smith. They will also have to make do without England trio Will Jacks, Jamie Overton and Jamie Smith, who are in the England Squad to play South Africa in the ODI series that starts on Tuesday.

Northants Form

Northants suffered their sixth defeat in eight matches when they lost to Durham by nine wickets.

Northants' top order hit their stride to reach 203/5 off their 20 overs. Matthew Breetzke (52 off 35) and David Willey (63 off 32) starred with the bat for Northants.

Durham raced to the win for the loss of just one wicket off 16.3 overs. Luke Procter (1/27) was the pick of the Northants bowlers.

Northants Team News

Northants will be buoyed by Surrey missing out on a handful of key players due to injury and international duty. Northants are weakened by the absence of Matthew Breetzke, who was in brilliant form for South Africa against Australia last week.

Verdict

Surrey v Northants

I am backing Surrey to win. I am also backing Jason Roy to top score for Surrey.

David Willey is a good bet to top score for Northants.
