Munster vs Lions Predictions

Munster are on a winning streak at home and must win their remaining match to book their spot in the upcoming play-offs. The Lions also need a victory to secure their place in the play-offs, but they have lacked consistency on the road this season.

  • Munster have won 3 consecutive home games (URC).
  • Munster have won 2 consecutive home matches against the Lions.
  • Lions have lost 4 of their last 7 away fixtures (URC).
  • Lions have lost 3 consecutive matches against Munster.

Head to Head

Munster have a slight edge with three victories to one against the Lions in four meetings.

Munster Form

Munster dropped vital play-off points in their match against Connacht last weekend, losing 26-7 away from home after trailing 19-0 at half-time.

Munster have performed well at home in the United Rugby Championship this season. They defeated Cardiff 23-20, Edinburgh 20-19, and Connacht 17-15, lost 27-21 to the Stormers and 13-8 to Leinster, before beating the Dragons 22-20, Zebre 21-7, and Ulster 41-14.

Munster are 6th in the URC standings with 51 points from 17 games.

Munster have the advantage of playing at home for the final league game, having won three in a row at their stadium, including two on the trot against the Lions, giving them the edge to secure all the points and cement their spot in the season-ending play-offs.

Lions Form

The Lions dropped crucial points in their charge to reach the URC play-offs last weekend, losing 31-7 to Leinster after trailing 14-7 at the break.

Before that result, the Lions had lacked consistency away from home in the league this season. They lost to Cardiff 33-20, to Zebre 22-20, to Benetton 41-15, beat the Bulls 43-33, lost to the Stormers 34-27, and defeated the Sharks 23-22 before drawing 24-24 with the Ospreys.

The Lions are 10th in the United Rugby Championship table with 53 points from 17 matches.

The Lions have won six of their last seven matches in the URC; however, their away form in the league has not been strong this season, with four defeats in seven fixtures, including a draw, which is not the best form to have when you need to win to secure a play-off position inside the top eight places.
