Weekend preview

The round opens on Friday night when Ipswich host Liverpool at Portman Road. Liverpool have drawn both of their opening league matches, while Ipswich have one win and one defeat from their first two games.

Saturday’s early match sees Newcastle host Bournemouth at St James’ Park. Newcastle are unbeaten after two matches, while Bournemouth are still looking for their first win of the campaign.

The 4:00 PM Saturday window includes five matches. Brentford host Sunderland, Brighton face Leeds, Fulham meet Crystal Palace, Manchester City take on Coventry and Nottingham Forest face Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City are one of four clubs to have opened the season with two wins, while Coventry remain without a point after defeats to Arsenal and Hull City.

Tottenham also enter Matchday 3 under pressure after losing their first two league matches without scoring. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, picked up a useful draw at Liverpool after losing to Leeds on the opening weekend.

Hull City host Aston Villa in Saturday’s late game. Hull have made a superb start with two wins from two, while Villa are still searching for their first points after defeats to Brighton and Arsenal.

Sunday brings two major fixtures. Everton host Manchester United at 3:00 PM, before Arsenal face Chelsea at 5:30 PM in the standout clash of Matchday 3.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both started with back-to-back wins, making their Emirates meeting an early test of two sides expected to be involved near the top of the table.
