Namibia vs South Africa Predictions

South Africa are guaranteed a place in the final so it’s up to Namibia to stake their claim. A win for the hosts will put them level on points with Zimbabwe, but as their current NRR (-0.095) is already vastly superior to Zimbabwe's (-1.002), any margin of victory will guarantee them a place in Sunday’s final.

Head-to-Head

South Africa have lost both of their previous two T20Is against Namibia.

Namibia Form

Namibia sit third in the standings with one win from three matches. Gerhard Erasmus has led their batting with 119 runs, while Ruben Trumpelmann is their leading wicket-taker with five scalps.

They suffered a five-wicket defeat to Zimbabwe last time out despite Erasmus producing a superb unbeaten 88 from 48 balls. Namibia struggled around him, with Louren Steenkamp, Jan Frylinck and Zane Green contributing little as they reached 156/6.

Zimbabwe lost Ben Curran early in reply, but Innocent Kaia took control. He struck 72 from 42 balls and shared an important 61-run second-wicket stand with Brian Bennett before combining with Sikandar Raza to steer Zimbabwe home in the 19th over.

South Africa Form

South Africa lead the table with two wins from three games. Dewald Brevis is their leading run-scorer with 191 runs, while Duan Jansen tops the bowling charts with eight wickets.

They recorded an emphatic 43-run victory over Zimbabwe in their previous match after posting 185/7. Lhuan-dre Pretorius dominated with 94 from 51 balls, including 12 fours and three sixes, while Brevis added a rapid 41 from 27 and Jordan Hermann contributed 28.

Zimbabwe’s reply quickly collapsed to 51/6 inside eight overs. Bjorn Fortuin did the major damage with four wickets, while Jansen claimed 3/21 as Zimbabwe were dismissed for 142.

Team news

The surface is best for batting early before offering increasing grip and variable bounce. Spinners and seamers who hit the deck should be effective, with a score of around 165 likely proving a competitive total.

Namibia (possible XI): Jan Frylinck, Louren Steenkamp, Gerhard Erasmus (c), Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Zane Green, Alex Busing-Volschenk, JJ Smit, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, Jack Brassell, Max Heingo.

South Africa (possible XI): Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Jordan Hermann, Connor Esterhuizen, Rubin Hermann, Eathan Bosch, Duan Jansen, Bjorn Fortuin (c), Prenelan Subrayen, Nqaba Peter, Kwena Maphaka.

Verdict

Namibia v South Africa T20

South Africa are strongly tipped to beat Namibia to make it three wins in a row. Gerhard Erasmus is backed to be in the runs again for Namibia, with Ruben Trumpelmann our pick to be his side’s best bowler. Dewald Brevis and Bjorn Fortuin are backed to star for the Proteas.
