Wales vs Uruguay U20 Predictions - Wales to beat Uruguay in World Rugby U-20 Championship clash

Last updated: 1 hour ago

Wales U20 is strongly favored to win their Pool A clash against Uruguay U20, following their exciting 25-24 victory over Georgia in the opening match. Uruguay comes into the game on the back of a heavy 104-7 defeat to South Africa and a run of poor results. With Wales having won three of their last six matches, the recommendation is to back Wales to cover the handicap. This match marks the first meeting between these two teams, and Wales' superior form makes them clear favorites.

Wales vs Uruguay U20 Predictions

Wales are favourites against a Uruguay side that has struggled for form. My best bet is Wales to cover the handicap.

  • Wales beat Georgia 25-24 in their opening match.
  • Wales have won 3 of their last 6 matches.
  • Uruguay lost 104-7 to South Africa in their opening match.
  • Uruguay has lost three of the last four matches.

Head to Head

Wales will meet Uruguay for the first time.

Wales U20 Form

Wales defeated tournament hosts Georgia 25-24 in a dramatic opening Pool A match at Avchala Stadium in Tbilisi. Wales went into the break with a 15-12 lead, with tries from Caio James and Rhys Cummings and 15 points from fly-half Carwyn Leggat-Jones. Wales extended their lead to 25-17 with just five minutes remaining before being reduced to 13 players due to disciplinary issues.

Georgia capitalized on the numbers advantage and launched an aggressive final-minute attack that the Welsh withstood, securing a crucial Pool A win.

Wales will fancy their chances against Uruguay in their second Pool A match, as their opponents have been struggling to win any of their games recently, losing three of their previous four fixtures.

Uruguay U20 Form

Uruguay lost 104-7 in their opening match to South Africa in Tbilisi, after trailing 50-0 at half-time. Uruguay registered their only points late in the game with a try by Sebastián Dalmao.

Uruguay last played in a tournament at the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy. They lost 25-7 to Kenya, 32-15 to the USA, and beat the Netherlands 32-16 before losing 75-22 to Japan to finish fourth overall.

After winning just one of their previous four matches, Uruguay look very unlikely to pose much of a threat in their Pool A match against Wales.
