Wales vs Scotland Predictions - Scotland set for victory at the Principality in Six Nations clash

The upcoming Six Nations match between Wales and Scotland highlights Scotland as favorites due to Wales' prolonged poor performance. Scotland has secured narrow victories against Wales over the last two years, despite their own inconsistency. The article underscores the struggle for Wales, particularly their loss in recent matches, including significant defeats against England and France. Meanwhile, Scotland's inconsistency was evident with a recent loss to Italy, but they rebounded with a confidence-boosting win over England. Predictions are cautious, suggesting Wales might lose by less than 19.5 points.

Wales vs Scotland Predictions

Scotland are comfortable favourites given how poor Wales have been for the past few years. However, in the last two years, despite Wales being very poor, Scotland have won narrowly. The inconsistency of the Scots has me doubting whether they can cover -18.5.

  • Wales have lost 23 of their last 25 matches.
  • Wales have conceded 54, 48, 73 & 52 points in their last 4 matches.
  • Scotland have won their last 3 matches against Wales.
  • Scotland have won their last 2 matches against Wales by 1 and 6 points.
  • Scotland beat England at home last weekend.

Head to Head

Scotland have had the better of Wales in the last three years, winning the last three games. They won in 2023, 2024 and 2026 Six Nations. Prior to that, Wales had won five of the last six.

Last season, Scotland won 35-29 at home against Wales.

Wales Form

Wales rugby is struggling at the moment as they still only have two wins since the conclusion of the 2023 Rugby World Cup – both against Japan. They have been hammered twice in the opening two rounds during the 2026 Six Nations as well.

In round one, Wales lost out 48-7 to England at Twickenham. It was followed by a 54-12 home loss to France last Sunday.

Wales have struggled on the field for some time and are expected to once again lose badly to Scotland. The one positive for the hosts is that Scotland have been quite inconsistent over the last few years.

Scotland Form

Scotland have struggled for consistency recently and tend to blow hot-and-cold. There is no more proof needed than the opening two rounds of the 2026 Six Nations.

In round one, Scotland suffered an 18-15 loss IN Rome to Italy, a game they would have fancied winning. Fortunately, Scotland, as they always tend to do, bounced back to beat England 31-20 at home in the Six Nations.

That result will give Scotland huge confidence, but can they back it up with a performance is a bigger question. However, considering the Scots are in good form, they should beat a very poor Welsh outfit.

Wales vs Scotland Team News

Wales are without a win in the Six Nations for three years now and will be desperate to put that right. Steve Tandy, speaking ahead of the match, said, “I know how they feel. Some of the Scotland teams I played in struggled and had to cut their teeth at international level. It’s the start of a rebuild under a new coaching team. So, they will be looking for those small ‘wins’ and then building on those. There’s plenty of quality there; Scotland will be hoping this isn’t the weekend when it begins to tick for the Welsh.”

Gregor Townsend was not eager to take this result for granted, knowing how poor the Scots were against Italy in round one. He said, “It’s a lot about what you do in those 80 minutes, and we’ve got to make sure that we get our game out."
