The Desert Warriors are one of the form African sides coming into AFCON and comfortably qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In the recently completed Arab Cup, Algeria were knocked out on penalties in the quarter-final against Saudi Arabia.

In their opening game, Algeria were far too good for 10-man Sudan, winning the match 3-0. Riyan Mahrez scored a brace before Ibrahim Maza scored late on to secure the three points.

Burkina Faso Form

Burkina Faso were fortunate to come through their opening AFCON game with all three points, although they were the better side throughout.

In their opener against Equatorial Guinea, Burkina Faso failed to take their early opportunities, but they took control of the match when the opposition were reduced to 10-men in the 50th minute.

However, with opportunities being squandered, Equatorial Guinea took the lead in the 85th minute of the match. It took a dramatic injury time comeback to secure the points with Georgi Minoungou scoring in the 95th minute and Edmond Tapsoba in the 98th to take the three points.
