As Angola faces Zimbabwe, expect an evenly matched game that may likely end in a score draw. Neither team is in stellar form, with Angola losing their AFCON opener and Zimbabwe grappling with changes in coaching and limited recent victories. Key analysis reveals Angola's struggle in recent matches, with 8 winless games out of the last 9. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, holds a slight historical advantage in head-to-head encounters. Both teams need to avoid losses, suggesting a cautious approach leading to a balanced outcome.

Angola vs Zimbabwe Predictions

A close match awaits before these Southern African rivals. Zimbabwe are backed for a point in a score draw. Neither side can afford to lose this fixture.

Key Stats – Neither Side are Winning Matches

  • Angola are winless in 8 of their last 9 competitive matches (5 draws, 3 losses)
  • Angola have seen BTTS Yes in 4 of their last 6 matches.
  • Zimbabwe are unbeaten in 3 of their last 4 matches vs Angola.

Head to Head – Warriors Hold Narrow Lead

These nations have met on nine occasions since 1993.

Zimbabwe hold a 4-3 advantage with two draws. Angola won 2-0 when the countries last met in the 2012 AFCON.

Angola Out of Form – Lost AFCON opener

Angola failed to qualify for next year’s World Cup after drawing six of their 10 qualifiers. They topped their group for AFCON qualifying and reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 edition.

A 0-0 draw away vs Cameroon in October was a good result in their final World Cup qualifier. They’ve since played three friendlies, losing 2-0 at Argentina before beating Zambia 3-2 and Mozambique 4-1.

Their opening match at this tournament saw a 2-1 loss to South Africa. They allowed just 0.44 xG but Palancas Negras put up just 0.20 xG from open play as their goal came from a set-piece.

Zimbabwe Struggling of Late

Zimbabwe’s last 18 matches have seen just two wins. They failed to qualify for next year’s World Cup and sacked coach Michael Nees on the eve of this tournament.

They lost 1-0 in successive World Cup qualifiers, to Benin and at home to Rwanda. In October’s qualifiers, they fought hard for a 0-0 draw in South Africa before losing 1-0 to Lesotho.

In November, the Warriors lost 3-1 to Algeria and beat Qatar 2-1 in two friendlies. Their AFCON opener ended with a very late 2-1 loss to Egypt as they allowed 35 shots and eight big chances.
