Cameroon vs Morocco Predictions - Morocco backed in Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal

Cameroon and Morocco are set to face off in a thrilling AFCON match. While Cameroon has shown resilience with a strong defensive form, Morocco remains a dominant force, having lost only three of their last 17 matches. Brahim Diaz is in exceptional form, scoring in all his recent games and placing Morocco as favorites. The match is predicted to favor Morocco due to their recent performances and Diaz's consistent scoring. Despite Cameroon's potential, Morocco's tactical strength might be hard to overcome if Brahim Diaz continues to deliver.

Cameroon vs Morocco Predictions

Cameroon have gotten results but fortune has certainly shined bright upon them. I fancy Morocco to end that run especially with the form Brahim Diaz has shown.

  • Cameroon are undefeated in 11 of their last 13 matches.
  • Morocco have won to nil in their last 2 matches against Cameroon.
  • Morocco have won 14 of their last 17 matches.
  • Morocco have won to nil in 6 of their last 8 matches.
  • Morocco’s Brahim Diaz has scored in his last 4 matches.

Head to Head

Cameroon have the better record in this fixture but Morocco have won their last two encounters.

Cameroon Form

Cameroon started at AFCON with a narrow 1-0 win against Gabon thanks to Karl Etta Eyong’s early goal. Another tight clash against Ivory Coast ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Indomitable Lions fell behind against Mozambique but turned it around to secure a 2-1 victory. Christian Kofane started for the second straight game and took the chance with the winning goal.

David Pagou’s side were largely outplayed by South Africa in the Round of 16 but held on after taking a 2-0 lead. Junior Tchamadeu opened the scoring and Kofane found the net again, Cameroon holding on for a 2-1 win in Rabat.
Pagou commented on the result, saying: "We are of course excited with the result. We have had quite a hectic assignment which we have successfully completed.

"We are striving to improve and collectively working together in progressing the team. We are keeping a positive state of mind and that is playing a key role in our team"

Cameroon Predicted Lineup & News

Cameroon (3-5-2) Devis Epassy; Che Malone, Samuel Kotto, Nouhou Tolo; Junior Tchamadeu, Arthur Avom, Carlos Baleba, Danny Namaso, Darlin Yongwa; Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Kofane

Mahamadou Nagida replaced Darlin Yongwa in the first half against South Africa and is expected to start. Azzedine Ounahi has been removed from the squad following a severe calf muscle tear.

Morocco Form

Morocco have won 14 of their previous 17 matches and conceded only one goal at AFCON. They beat Comoros 2-0 before a took a 1-1 draw against Mali, ending with 15-5 shots and 2.82-0.91 xG.

Walid Regragui’s side dominated Zambia in their final group game, Ayoub El Kaabi scoring twice in a 3-0 victory. Brahim Diaz scored in his third straight game at the tournament.

Diaz scored again in a comprehensive 1-0 win over Tanzania in the Round of 16. The Atlas Lions had 71% possession and 12-4 shots which included 4-1 on target.

Regragui was pleased with the improvement after the break, saying: "If there's an analysis of the match, simply put, we effectively started our game in the second half.

"We had a first half that wasn't up to our standard: too many technical errors, many wrong choices, little running, and we gave confidence to the opponent with the two or three chances they had.

"Fortunately, during the half-time break, we managed to correct some things, and the second half was more aligned with our standards: we increased our pace, created many chances and attacking situations.

"We should have scored earlier, but the goal came at the right time, so we will cherish the memory of qualifying."

Morocco Predicted Lineup & News

Morocco (4-2-3-1) Yassine Bounou; Achraf Hakimi, Nayef Aguerd, Adam Masina, Noussair Mazraoui; Sofyan Amrabat, Neil El Aynaoui; Brahim Diaz, Ismael Saibari, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli; Ayoub El Kaabi

Romain Saiss picked up a hamstring injury against Comoros and remains doubtful. Expect Adam Masina to partner Nayef Aguerd on central defence.

Achraf Hakimi started against Tanzania with Noussair Mazraoui switching to left-back. Sofyan Amrabat has been managing a foot injury and chould come back into the starting side here.

Verdict

Morocco remain on track to win the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, Brahim Diaz scoring in all four games. Cameroon are unlikely to go down easy, but I think the Atlas Lions can advance in Rabat.
