Both sides lost their opening games, but Equatorial Guinea looked far better despite playing with 10 men. Given Sudan’s inability to score goals, I am backing a win to nil for Equatorial Guinea.

Equatorial Guinea Form
Equatorial Guinea lost their opening game 2-1 against Burkina Faso but will still be kicking themselves. They have reached the knockout rounds of AFCON in all four previous tournaments for which they qualified, but they need a win here to keep that possibility alive.
In a cracking contest, the teams went into the break at 0-0. Equatorial Guinea went down to 10 men when Basilio Ndong saw red in the 50th minute but they still managed to take the lead in the 85th minute through Marvin Anieboh.
In the best finish to a game at this years AFCON to date, Burkina Faso scored in the fifth and eighth minute of stoppage time to claim an unlikely victory.
The winners enjoyed 67% of possession and had 19 shots on goal compared to Equatorial Guinea’s six, two of which were on target.
Sudan Form
Sudan didn’t come into the Africa Cup of Nations in good form and that didn’t change in the first game. In the Arab Cup prior to AFCON, Sudan managed an impressive 0-0 draw against Algeria but lost 2-0 to Iraq and 3-1 to Bahrain.
In their opening game against Algeria, Sudan were comfortably outplayed, losing 3-0. In the 39th minute, Salah Adel was red carded which didn’t make matters any easier for the Sudanese.
Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez scored once in each half while Ibrahim Maza added an 85th minute third goal. Sudan only managed four shots on goal in the game and had to live with 41% possession.
