English Championship Predictions - 20 November 2025, Matchday 18

Editor
Last updated: 27 Nov 2025

In Matchday 18 of the English Championship, Wrexham are favorites against Blackburn thanks to an unbeaten streak in five games, showcasing a strong defense. Coventry, leading the table, are expected to overpower a struggling Charlton side. Norwich's woes are predicted to continue as they face a QPR team in form, with QPR picking back-to-back wins. Lastly, Preston look set for victory against a Sheffield Wednesday side hindered by point deductions and consistent losses, bolstered by Preston’s strong form both home and away.

Wrexham vs Blackburn

Wrexham are unbeaten in five league games (W3, D2), with three clean sheets in that run and just two goals conceded as they’ve climbed into the pack just outside the play-off spots.

Blackburn are wildly streaky – three wins and two defeats from their last five, all by single-goal margins, and they arrive on the back of a flat 1–0 home loss to QPR that leaves them marooned in the lower half. With Wrexham looking solid and confident at home, the hosts feel like the safer XI to side with in what looks like another narrow Championship scrap.

Coventry vs Charlton

Coventry are setting the pace at the top of the table with 40 points from 17 games and four wins in their last four matches, scoring four at Middlesbrough and three against both West Brom and Sheffield United in a blistering autumn surge.

Charlton, down in the lower half, have lost their last three league games, shipping nine goals in defeats to Wrexham, Southampton and Stoke, and their defensive numbers away from home are ugly. Even with Coventry on the road, form and firepower point strongly towards another win for the leaders.

Norwich vs QPR

Norwich are in deep trouble in second-last place with just 10 points from 17 games. They soaked up a 4-1 hammering at Birmingham in Philippe Clement’s first match at the helm, which is part of a horror run of nine losses and four draws in their last 13 Championship matches.

QPR sit comfortably in mid-table on 25 points and have picked up again with back-to-back wins over Hull (3-2) and Blackburn (1-0) which came hot on the heels of a gritty goalless draw away to Sheffield United. On current form it makes sense to lean towards QPR getting something here, with the visitors looking the more stable side in what could easily turn into another fraught afternoon for the Canaries.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston

Sheffield Wednesday remain rock-bottom on minus-4 points after their 12-point penalty deduction, with just one league win all season and a recent 3-0 derby battering by Sheffield United underlining how far off the pace they are. They have lost seven and drawn two of their last nine matches, with their only win coming 12 matches ago when they beat Portsmouth 2-0 away from home.

Preston, by contrast, are sitting in the play-off places (6th) and have lost only one of their last six league matches, a stretch that includes away wins at Southampton and home victories over Swansea and Sheffield United, plus recent draws with Millwall and Watford. On the road, Preston have lost just one of their last six matches in the Championship. With Preston well-organised and Wednesday fragile on and off the pitch, everything points to the visitors controlling this and adding another notch to their promotion push.

Verdict

Wrexham and Coventry to both keep picking up home wins as they fight for promotion.

Norwich to go down to a rampant QPR, while goals should flow for Preston as Sheffield Wednesday’s woes deepen.
