West Brom vs Charlton

West Brom are one point off Leicester at the top of the drop zone, with Charlton far from safe six points above them. Lots to play for in this match.

West Brom haven’t tasted victory for eight matches, with five defeats coming in that time, along with failing to score in five of those matches. Charlton are in reasonably good form, winning two, drawing two and losing just one of their last five games. This must surely be a win for the visitors.

Wrexham vs Portsmouth

Portsmouth are paddling hard to stay out of the drop zone, while Wrexham have slipped into the playoff spot and will be brimming with confidence. Pompey have 12 players on the treatment table, so they are spread thin, while Wrexham are just missing three lads.

Both sides have won three of their last five games, Wrexham losing one and drawing one, while Portsmouth have two defeats. My heart is calling it a Wrexham win, while my head says Pompey will be a tough nut to crack. Easy solution is to back this as a high-scoring match, as both teams have been netting plenty over the past two months.

Blackburn vs Bristol City

Blackburn will be anxious to rise well above the relegation trapdoor, while Bristol are chasing a playoff spot. Blackburn have won three of their last four league matches, while Bristol have lost two of their last four, with just the one win.

Blackburn have lost just one of their last five at home, winning twice, but scoring just five and conceding four. Bristol have lost three of their last four on the road, also scoring five times but conceding seven goals. I want to back a 1-1 draw, but the Championship is unpredictable, so I’ll stick with a valuable home win.

Middlesbrough vs Leicester

Boro are in the Top 3 teams in the Championship in terms of wins, with 18 from 32 matches. They are one win behind log leaders Coventry and will be eyeing the title. Leicester are in the drop zone, although they have plenty of escape routes if they can string some wins together.

Leicester haven’t won on the road in the league in their last six matches and have lost six (two draws) of their last eight matches. Middlesbrough have won their last three games on home turf and have won five of their last seven home and away, with one draw and one defeat. The Foxes have only gone goalless in one of their last 15 league matches, while Boro have a goal difference of plus-32. This should be an easy Boro win with both sides scoring.

Verdict

Blackburn to stave off poor travellers Bristol City, with Boro set to batter struggling Leicester.
