English Championship Predictions - Matchday 31

Last updated: 2 hours ago

Ahead of Matchday 31 in the English Championship, expert predictions provide key insights. Birmingham is anticipated to capitalize on Leicester's struggles, bolstered by their recent home scoring form. Wrexham, showing strong and consistent performance, are favored over Millwall. West Brom faces a tough challenge against Stoke with their weak recent form, while Coventry's potent home advantage poses significant threats to Oxford United's relegation struggle. The home team's fortress-like consistency could eclipse Oxford's poor away record.

  • Birmingham’s strong home form likely too much for Leicester.
  • Wrexham to outmuscle poor-travellers Millwall.
  • Stoke to pull off a strong away win against West Brom.
  • Coventry to overpower relegation-bound Oxford.

English Championship Predictions - Matchday 31

Birmingham vs Leicester

Birmingham sit in 13th spot and have won three and drawn two of their last five games. Leicester are in 16th place but are level on points with West Brom, who are in the drop zone. The Foxes have lost three and drawn one of their last five games and, with their six-point penalty, they are battling to avoid relegation.

Leicester have beaten Birmingham in their last nine league games, but Leicester aren’t enjoying a great season. Birmingham have scored in each of their last 14 home league games while Leicester haven’t won on the road in their last five away games. This looks like a strong win for Birmingham.

Wrexham vs Millwall

Two teams in the playoff spots, but Wrexham are just two points above Derby and will be desperate to push away from their challengers. Both teams have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five matches, with Wrexham on a hot streak of a draw followed by two wins.

Millwall have scored 10 goals in their last five games, but they have scored one or less goals in six of their last 10 games. Wrexham have scored in all of their last 10 matches, netting 22 times and conceding 15. Wrexham have lost just one of their last 10 home games, while Millwall have won just twice on the road in their last 10 matches. It’s stacking up like a home win in my book.

West Brom vs Stoke

West Brom are in 22nd place and at the top of the drop zone, having lost seven and drawn one of their last nine League matches. Stoke will be pushing for a playoff spot as they are just five points behind 6th-placed Wrexham, but they are winless in four games, picking up just two points.

Both sides are low on goals, but West Brom have conceded 12 in their last four matches, scoring just three. Stoke have gone goalless in four of their last 10, scoring just seven goals. Stoke have it in my book, but I can’t see more than two goals in total raising a cheer from the crowd.

Coventry vs Oxford United

Oxford are five points below the drop zone, so travelling to top-placed Coventry is not great timing for them. Oxford have a goal difference of minus-13, averaging under a goal a game. Coventry are the top-ranked side when it comes to goals, netting a whopping 63 for a goal difference of plus-28.

Oxford have lost four of their last seven League games, drawing twice and winning just one game. Despite being in top spot, Coventry have hit a bit of a slump, winning just two of their last seven matches and losing four, including their last two on the bounce.

On the road Oxford have won just one of their last eight games, losing five. Coventry’s home form is superb, however, winning 11, drawing one and losing just one of their last 13 home League games. It doesn’t look good for Oxford’s relegation hopes, it has to be said.

Verdict

Birmingham to batter Leicester, while Wrexham to push towards playoff safety by beating Millwall.

Low-scoring West Brom to struggle against Stoke, while Coventry’s fortress to withstand the challenge from struggling Oxford.
