Everton vs Brentford

One point separates two teams both pushing for a spot in Europe. Their recent records are almost identical, but the difference is in their home/away form. Brentford had lost five games in a row on the road before their last away match, which saw them beat League whipping-boys Wolves. Everton are fairly strong at home, winning five, drawing two and losing three of their last 10 home games. Their last home match was a 1-0 loss to Arsenal, so they should have the edge on Brentford.

Fulham vs Liverpool

Despite a topsy turvy season in defence of their League title, Liverpool have scrapped their way back to 4th place on the table. Fulham lie mid-table and are strong at home, winning seven and losing three of their last 10 home matches. Those losses included a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal and a thrilling 4-5 loss to Man City. Their last five meetings with Liverpool have resulted in three draws, a win and a loss, with no clean sheets for either side and with four-plus match goals in three of the last four matches.

Liverpool on the road have lost five, won four and drawn one of their last 10 matches, although they are undefeated in their last four matches on the road. Liverpool should have the edge, but based on this season’s form for both sides this could easily go any of three ways, so I’ve look for good odds on goals scored.

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace

After a strong start to the season Palace have slipped down to 10th place on 27 points, while Newcastle are on 26 points but are in 13th place. Europe is still on the cards for either side, so there is plenty to play for on Sunday.

Palace have lost four and drawn two of their last six matches, while Newcastle have gone 2-2-2. I’m backing Newcastle for the win as they’ve won eight and drawn two of their last 10 matches at home. Palace have won five and lost five of their last 10 matches on the road, but have lost their last two by a total of two goals to six.

Tottenham vs Sunderland

Sunderland are enjoying a good season and lie in seventh place within a point of a place in Europe. Spurs are down in 12th place, just three points behind their visitors. Sunderland have been more resolute, losing just two of 10 matches, while Spurs have lost five of 10.

On the road Sunderland have lost two and drawn two of their last four matches on the road, while Spurs have won two and drawn two of their last four games. On the road Sunderland have failed to score in six of their last 10 matches, netting just five goals.

Verdict

Everton to pick up a valuable win over Brentford, while Fulham will be tough to break down at home.

Newcastle to rise up the table with a win over Palace, Spurs to pick up three points at the expense of Sunderland.
