Aston Villa vs Chelsea
For two teams chasing a Champions League spot their recent results will not be warming the hearts of their fans. Chelsea have lost one and drawn two of their last three games, while Villa have two defeats and two draws in their last five League matches.
At home Villa have three defeats and a draw in their last six games, while Chelsea have won five of their last seven matches on the road, losing two matches (both to Arsenal).
Chelsea have buried 19 goals in their last seven away games, while Villa at home have been struggling to score domestically, failing to score twice and scoring just one goal in three of their last five domestic games.
This clash has a Chelsea win written all over it.
Fulham vs West Ham
West Ham’s battle against the drop has hit a bump with just two points in their last three matches. Fulham bounced back from three defeats on the trot to pick up three wins in a row, winning six of their last 10 matches, but West Ham are enjoying similar form.
The key to this match lies in Craven Cottage, where Fulham have lost just once in seven home games, including five wins. West Ham followed up an eight-match winless streak by winning two of their last four games, but this is looking strong for Fulham in my book.
Brighton vs Arsenal
Mid-table Brighton have won their last two League games and they entertain log-leaders Arsenal, who have also won their last two League games, along with two draws and a win in their last five.
Brighton have won just three of their last 10 games (4 defeats), while Arsenal have seven wins in their last nine. Arsenal haven’t lost on the road in 10 matches, so they are the easy choice to back.
Newcastle vs Man United
Man United are riding high, winning six of their last seven matches, with one draw. Newcastle have lost four and won one of their last five League matches and are stuck down in 13th place, with little prospects for the rest of the season.
With three defeats at home on the bounce there is little hope for the Toon Army against a United side that has lost just once on the road in 11 matches, with five wins and five draws, slapping in 19 goals in their last 10 matches. Newcastle have 10 goals in their last five home matches (despite losing three of those five matches).
Verdict
Chelsea to win on the road again, Fulham to see off West Ham, Brighton to suffer defeat at home to Arsenal, while United to win on the road again.
