Everton vs Manchester City Predictions

Manchester City’s sublime form should see them over the live against an Everton side struggling for consistency. I'm tipping another City win to nil, with goals for the away side at Goodison Park.

  • Everton have lost their last 2 home matches (Premier League).
  • Everton haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 7 matches (Premier League).
  • Everton have lost their last 5 matches against Man City (Premier League).
  • Man City have won their last 16 matches (all competitions).
  • Man City have won by 2+ goals in 13 of their last 15 matches (all competitions).
  • Man City have kept 17 clean sheets in their last 23 matches (all competitions).
  • Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan has scored 11 goals in his last 12 matches (Premier League).

Head-to-Head

Manchester City have won 73 of the 188 meetings between the sides. Everton have won 68 and there have been 47 stalemates.

City have won their last five clashes with Everton, with an commanding aggregate score of 13-4. The Toffees have not beaten City in four years.

Everton Form

Everton have two games in hand over most of the league, but they will need to improve if they are to start looking like serious contenders for a UEFA Champions League place.

The Toffees have been in stumbling of late. A dramatic comeback in a 3-3 draw with Manchester United and a 5-4 extra-time FA Cup win over Tottenham are sandwiched in between defeats at home to strugglers Newcastle and Fulham.

Everton head into this clash with City after a nightmare 2-0 defeat at home to relegation threatened Fulham.

Despite not scoring against Fulham last time out, Everton still have 10 goals in their last 4 games. But an injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin has seriously blunted their attacking edge.

Carlo Ancelotti's charges have been poor defensively and that is costing them dearly. The Toffees have not kept just one clean sheet in seven league games, conceding 11 goals in that period.

Everton Injuries and Team News

Top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and playmaker James Rodriguez are all doubts.

Midfielder Allan returned to the bench against Fulham and he could be brought back into the starting line-up.

Man City Form

Premier League leaders Manchester City have won 16 straight fixtures in all competitions. They are also undefeated in their last 23 games.

Pep Guardiola's team have been scintilating of late, scoring two or more goals in six of their last seven league matches. They have kept clean sheets in seven of their last eight league fixtures.

The run continued on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur. Rodri opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Ilkay Gündogan got two more goals.

Gündogan has been outstanding in front of goal this season, scoring 11 goals in his last 12 matches in the Premier League.

City have claimed victories in their last nine away matches, including 4-1 wins over Arsenal and Liverpool and a 3-1 success at Chelsea.

Manchester City Injuries and Team News

The absence of Kevin De Bruyne has been scarily unnoticeable, and he looks set to sit out again.

Ilkay Gündogan is a doubt with a groin issue and will face a late fitness test ahead of the trip to Goodison.

Midfielder Fernandinho and centre-back Nathan Ake are still out.

Verdict

Manchester City should claim their 17th win in a row, with a clean sheet again very possible. German midfielder Ilkay Gündogan can continue his goalscoring form if cleared to play.
