Turkey won five of their opening seven Euro 2024 qualifiers. Vincenzo Montella became the new manager in September, winning 1-0 in Croatia before beating Latvia 4-0 in Konya.

The Crescent-Stars drew 1-1 in Wales on the final matchday to finish top of Group D.

Montella’s side were average in four friendlies, a 1-0 defeat in Hungary followed by a 6-1 thrashing in Austria. They earned a 0-0 draw in Italy, ending with a 2-1 defeat in Poland where they conceded in the 90th minute.

Turkey started their Euro 2024 campaign with a 3-1 victory against Georgia. Mert Muldur opened the scoring, going into the second half level where Arda Güler scored a sensational goal followed by Kerem Akturkoglu deep into added time.

Portugal Form

Portugal won all ten European Championship qualifiers, nine of those victories coming with clean sheets. The only time they conceded was in a 3-2 victory against Slovakia.

The Selecão played twice in March, a 5-2 win against Sweden and 2-0 defeat in Slovenia. They recently played three friendlies, beating Finland 4-2 followed by a 2-1 defeat to Croatia and comfortable 3-0 victory over Republic of Ireland.

Roberto Martinez’s side left it late to beat Czech Republic in their opening match at Euro 2024. Conceding in the 62nd minute, they equalised through an own goal before Francisco Conceição came off the bench to score in added time.

Turkey v Portugal

Turkey failed to win in four friendlies, conceding nine goals, and gave up plenty of chances against Georgia. Portugal have dangerous weapons up front, Ronaldo the obvious choice to score and help his side secure a Round of 16 spot.
