AmaZulu performed well above expectations in the PSL last season, finishing in sixth place. They won 10 of their 28 games, lost 13 and drew eight.

The Durban-based outfit has played two friendlies this season. They beat Golden Arrows 3-2 in a derby before going down 3-2 to Durban City a day later.

While not much can be read into those results, AmaZulu will be concerned that they conceded five goals in two games.
