Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Qatar Predictions - Goals expected in exciting final group match

Editor
Last updated: 22 Jun 2026

Bosnia-Herzegovina and Qatar face a critical World Cup 2026 qualifier, each needing a win after poor starts. Both teams have displayed defensive weaknesses, promising an open, attacking match. Bosnia are without key defender Tarik Muharemovic (suspended), while Qatar miss Homam Ahmed and Assim Madibo. With both teams regularly conceding goals and Edin Dzeko fit to feature, predictions favor 'Both Teams to Score,' over 2.5 goals, and Dzeko as an anytime scorer.

  • Both Bosnia and Qatar must win to advance in World Cup 2026 qualifying.
  • Expect high-scoring action due to defensive suspensions on both sides.
  • Predictions: Both Teams to Score, Over 2.5 Goals, Edin Dzeko to score.

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Qatar Predictions

This is a race to reach the playoffs, so expect an open clash with both sides needing all three points.

  • Bosnia & Herzegovina have seen BTTS in 10 of their last 11 matches.
  • Edin Dzeko has scored 73 goals in his 149 matches for Bosnia & Herzegovina.
  • Qatar have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 11 matches.

Head to Head

These two sides have met twice but their last encounter was in 2010 - a match that ended 1-1.

Bosnia & Herzegovina Form

Bosnia & Herzegovina are now in a must-win situation after collecting just one point from the opening two rounds at the World Cup 2026.

They were more than happy with a 1-1 initial draw against co-hosts Canada where Jovo Lukic’s header put them ahead in the 21st minute but ultimately conceded equalizer. The Dragons had 0.98-1.23 xG, 39% possession and 3-4 shots on target here.

Sergej Barbarez’s side defended well against favored Switzerland in the second round for 74 minutes when they conceded first goal, while their best defender Tarik Muharemovic was sent off a couple of minutes later. This led to a collapse, losing the encounter 4-1.

Qatar Form

Like Bosnia & Herzegovina, Qatar will need three points in this final round to keep their World Cup 2026 hopes alive, currently sitting bottom of the group with one draw and one defeat.

They started the tournament by upsetting favored Switzerland, scoring an equalizer in the 94th minute (Miro Muheim’s own goal) to secure a 1-1 draw. Qatar were heavily outplayed here with 3.20-0.60 expected goals and 6-26 shots.

Julen Lopategui’s side looked disastrous in the second round against co-hosts Canada, suffering a convincing 6-0 defeat while Homam Al Amin and Assim Madibo were sent off. They had two shots here compared to Canada’s 32.

Bosnia Herzegovina vs Qatar News & Predicted Lineups

Bosnia & Herzegovina (4-4-2) Nikola Vasilj; Amar Dedic, Nikola Katic, Nihad Mujakic, Sead Kolasinac; Benjamin Tahirovic, Ivan Basic, Amir Hadziahmetovic, Esmir Bajraktarevic; Ermedin Demirovic, Edin Dzeko

Bosnia & Herzegovina's best defender Tarik Muharemovic is suspended after receiving direct red card against Switzerland. Edin Dzeko fully recovered from a shoulder injury and is expected to start.

Qatar (4-2-3-1) Meshaal Barsham; Pedro Miguel, Boualem Khoukhi, Lucas Mendes, Sultan Al Braik; Ahmed Fathi, Karim Boudiaf; Edmilson Junior, Hassan Al Haydos, Akram Afif; Almoez Ali

Homam Ahmed and Assim Madibo are suspended for Qatar, both being sent off against Canada.

Verdict

Both sides revealed plenty of defensive weak spots in the opening two rounds and considering the nature of this clash (both teams needing three points) I predict an action-packed match in Seattle.

Edin Dzeko has played dozens of important games throughout his career and quite often scored deciding goals. I will back him to appear on the scoresheet for Bosnia here.
